Family Promise of Gainesville, FL We work to end childhood homelessness. There are still over 600 children in our school system who have no home of their own.

Family Promise of Gainesville is a volunteer-driven organization that unites the Gainesville community in a collaborative effort to assist families with children who are experiencing homelessness.

✨ ANNOUNCEMENT ✨
We’re thrilled to welcome Blanche “Jahmie” Williams, MS, as the new Executive Director of Family Promise of Gainesville, starting July 7th, 2024!

Blanche is a powerhouse nonprofit leader, strategist, and advocate with over 20 years of experience, and she’s no stranger to the mission. At just 21, Jahmie experienced homelessness herself, a reality that fuels her passion to fight for families facing housing insecurity. She will be leading our small but mighty team of 7 in the fight to end childhood homelessness across our region.

In 2024, Family Promise served over 180 families, helping children and parents build a path to stability and success.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Shari Jones, who has led Family Promise with bold vision and tireless dedication. From the launch of the Promise Center to expanding our impact across North Central
Florida, Shari’s legacy is one of transformation. Because of her leadership, Jahmie steps into an organization poised for even greater things.

This Friday, the Midnight Underground will be hosting a Back to the 80s Karaoke Party! Proceeds from the door will be donated to Family Promise of Gainesville! 🎉 We are honored and beyond grateful to announce that Family Promise of Gainesville has been awarded the IMPACT Grant from the Women’s Giving Circle and the Community Foundation! 💙

This generous $100,000.00 gift will ensure that working single mothers, especially those who fall into the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) category, earning too much to qualify for assistance but not enough to afford sustainable housing, have the opportunity to secure affordable housing and build a better future. 🌟

This investment supports not just housing, it creates stability, dignity, and generational change for families who are working hard but continue to fall through the cracks.

Children without stable housing score lower on standardized tests, are more likely to repeat a grade, and are chronically absent from school.

The constant upheaval affects their ability to concentrate, make friends, and simply feel safe.

The trauma of not knowing where you’ll sleep at night leads to increased anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues.

But here's the good news: Housing is the foundation. When we stabilize a family’s housing, we resolve countless other traumas children face, in education, mental health, and development.
