The latest Reports are coming this Wednesday, June 10.

Traditional poverty measures aren’t telling the full story about financial hardship in our communities. Dig into fresh insights at the national, state, and county levels around households in poverty and ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) with income above the poverty level but still short of the costs of basics.

Follow along starting June 10!

It’s always a joy when Beverly Goodman of the Tri-County Community Resources Center comes by the office. We were able to share some incredible donations with her to pass along to the rural families she serves. Items included brand new backpacks, toys, children’s clothing, and hygiene products.

If you’re interested in donating or volunteering, get involved with us as we continue on Mobilizing Community! 💙💛❤️

We are so thankful to WUFT News and Public Media for North Central Florida for featuring the ALICE Disaster Assistance Tracker on the latest episode of ‘Tell Me About It.’

This episode features United Way North Central Florida’s partnership with United for ALICE, a national research organization that expands understanding of financial hardship by spotlighting households that are ALICE®: Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. United for ALICE focuses on households that have income above the poverty level but below the cost of basics.

The ALICE Disaster Assistance Tracker combines weekly updated FEMA data with annual ALICE data to help communities better understand where disasters have hit hardest; the resulting number of assistance applications, approvals and denials; and the types of assistance received by households at different income levels.

Amber Miller, President and CEO of United Way North Central Florida and Dr. Stephanie Hoopes from United for ALICE share information on the exciting new data tool which includes information on how weather and other disasters have impacted households in the North Central Florida area since 2010.

This past Thursday, May 14th, the team at United Way North Central Florida attended a dedication ceremony for Cedar Key Food Pantry’s new refrigerated trailer.

Funded by United Way, the trailer brings mobility during a crisis allowing the food pantry to continue serving residents when brick and mortar isn’t operational. The day’s festivities included a tour of the food pantry, a golf cart parade through the coastal town, and a formal dedication outside of the Cedar Key Chamber of Commerce at Visit Cedar Key, Florida.

We are honored to have the opportunity to facilitate support for our regions and those who need it most.

Together, we’re creating a future where everyone, everywhere can thrive.
