Areas of collection focus include all disciplines, although liter

ature, the humanities and the social sciences are best represented. All regions of Latin America are also well represented, with the Caribbean, Circum-Caribbean and Brazil having the deepest holdings, while the Andean and Southern Cone regions are developing strengths. Library Travel Research Grant application closes in 6 days!!!

The University of Florida Center for Latin American Studies offers library access grants for scholars funded by a Title VI National Resource Center grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
Their call for this year is open, with applications being accepted until March 10, 2025.

The grants are to enable faculty from qualified U.S. colleges and universities to access the extensive resources of the UF Latin American and Caribbean Collection. The grants are funded by a Title VI National Resource Center grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

This is what 50,000 reels of microfilm look like! UF librarians in the 1950s & 60s filmed newspapers in Caribbean libraries, bringing heavy camera equipment with them by boat & sometimes airplane. We call this project "Librarian on a Boat".

Check out our new exhibit at LACC "El Centenario de José Martí: historia y tesoro de una biblioteca" curated by Dr. Margarita Vargas-Betancourt.

The exhibit includes documents and images from the Romero Family Papers Regarding José Martí detailing the 1953 centennial of Martí's birth and his relationship with María Mantilla.
