To speak during public comment on Friday, December 04th, at 2:30 PM, send the following email to [email protected] — tell UF that F2F classes are detrimental to students, employees, and community members!

I am requesting to speak to the Board of Trustees on Dec. 4th about agenda item AC3, audit and compliance report.
I am speaking as a UF alum/student/employee and Gainesville community member. Please let me know what time I should be at the meeting.

Faculty Union President Paul Ortiz: "I beg you to first consider the many alternatives that exist to going down the furlough road. I am looking for a firm commitment from the BOT and President Fuchs to use the university’s unrestricted net assets and other resources in order to buffer our campus from the types of budget cuts that will negatively impact the working lives and fragile earning power of members of our community already reeling from the global pandemic and the after-effects of the Great Recession."

The Board of Trustees at the University of Florida took on the furlough policy discussion at their meeting Tuesday, and voted to move forward with their draft policy.

Calling workers and allies! Sign up for public comment on furloughs, 9/29 at 10:30 am- by tonight!! Email [email protected] and let them know "I would like to speak during public comment about action item BT7.
Please confirm receipt of this request and let me know how to
participate in this public comment." BT7 is the vote on furloughs- tell them exactly how important it is that UF cut from the top to protect worker's rights. You can get in touch with us or with the Alachua County Labor Coalition for talking points, or just speak from the heart about your own experiences.
