Someone ask me about my 30 years of clerical work and I would like to let anyone that has a question know what I have been doing the last 30 years;
In 1990 I had been working at Nielsen for 4 1/2 years, every time they had a job opening on the board I applied, I wanted to move up and so I could take care of my family. I applied for the Administrative Assistant and several were interviewed and I got the position, I worked directly for the VP and his secretary, Kris Lenart. I answered the phone, typed reports for the Engineer Department, daily data entry, payroll, human resources, purchasing, customer service, and anything that was needed to be done. I excelled and loved my job. In 1993, my son was diagnosed with autism and ADHD. He was starting to have problems in school, so sadly in 1995 I left my job at Nielsen to homeschool my son and continued to homeschool him for 13 years. After being home a few months I decided since I had been working an outside job since I was 16 I needed something to do. I applied for a part time job with the State of Tennessee with the Healthy Start program, I loved this job too, but it consumed me to the point I could not focus on homeschooling, so I decided to leave this job and I started typing resumes, reports for college students, monthly newsletters and bulletins for the Dodson Branch Southern Baptist church to give me something to do. In 1999, the preacher at the Methodist church in Gainesboro called and said, "Pam, we would like for you to come work at the church, it is 12 hours a week." I started immediately and to this day, I love my job, love the people of the church and I have worked for 5 pastors. I was happy I could take Steven to work with me, I could homeschool, I was content! Then in 2004, I divorced and I started working at Anderson and Haile Drug store, I started cleaning houses and cleaning the church to supplement my income. I have worked at both since then and still cleaning houses. After my divorce in 2004, I started dating a childhood friend, JC Kilmon and we were married in 2013, God had different plans than we did so in 2017 he passed at 55 years old with cancer, it is the hardest experience I have ever went through. I poured myself into the word of God and my church family held me tight, I stayed busy, I went on trips with my dearest friends..and then later 2018 I started dating Mike Tippit, I have known him 43 years and it has been a blessing to me! Fast forward 2020, like everyone I started hearing that the clerk had resigned her position. I went to bed that night thinking about it and I woke up in the middle of the night and text an old friend about it and she gave me good advice, she ask me about pros and cons and that day I called my sister in law and told her I wanted to try to run, she said, "go for it, I will support you!" Thank you Wanda Mathews, I love you! To wrap this up, I want to say, I want this position, because I know I can be honest and efficient and I love Jackson County and I love my hometown of Gainesboro! I appreciate my family and friends for supporting me and for all the new friends that are supporting me! With a humble heart I want to sincerely thank you! Go vote for Kilmon!
