This past week BCVFD hosted the Borden County Elementary for there end of school fieldtrip. The children had a great life experience learned the 10 fundamentals of fire safety, ABCs of EMS, and completed a smoke walk on procedures to safely exit a burning structure utilizing walls and windows and isolating themselves to escape fire. The children then got to watch a full exercise conducted from tone drop to loading on BCems Ambulance of a fully entrapment utilizing TNT tools and direct fire attack .

The Borden County Fire Department proudly recognizes the achievement of Rookie Firefighter Nathan Pena, who recently earned an Associate of Applied Science in Technology degree from Western Texas College. Pena received his diploma on Thursday with his graduating class. Having served as a vital member of the Borden County Fire Department for 10 months, Pena is just two months shy of obtaining his firefighter helment shield.

The Fire Department will provide assistance to county residents for animal bogged development situations with our rescue apparatus equipped with specialized recovery assets.

This past week Borden County Volunteer Fire Department completed adavanced fire training at Lubbock Fire Conference.

BCVFD while on a on a overhaul/ rekindle grassfire in northwest portion of county , recieved mutual aid request from Howard County for a structure fire in Vealmoor TX, that required Muti Company Fire Operation, BCVFD responded with 100% dispatch of the Fleet. Once on scene fire was instructed take up defensive atrack on B side as structure had collasped. Fire spread rapidly across structure and igniting
multiple vehicles and RV motorhome , All inhabiting were evacuated and accounted for. BCVFD requested water resupply from LFD and AFD . Once fire was contained and controlled BCVFD turned overhaul /teardown over to HCFD .

21:59 16 Feb 2026 BCVFD responded to single vehicle entrapment . HWY 180 and South 1610 . Rescue 1 was dispatched along with one Fire Attack unit . BC Fire Chief requested immediate air evac for a critical injured male . Once subject was extricated from rollover, firefighters immediate went into full trauma assesment interdicting on all life threats until Snyder EMS arrived on scene . BCF worked multiple directions setting up a Nite Landing Zone and securing all incomming traffic from the south and north lanes entering.

- BCVFD responded to 1 of 3 grass fires in county. Hwy 180 and CR 612North. All fire resources were concentrated, along with Borden County's additional resources from the local County Grader and water truck.
