Weather Update – Saturday, August 1

The latest forecast from the US National Weather Service in Birmingham indicates that Etowah and surrounding counties are under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather on Saturday, August 1.

The main threat with any stronger storms will be damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph. While widespread severe weather is not expected, a few storms could become strong enough to produce hazardous winds.

Stay weather aware and have multiple ways to receive weather warnings throughout the day.

The US National Weather Service Birmingham Alabama has issued a Heat Advisory for Etowah County from 10am Monday morning until 9pm Tuesday night.
Use caution today if you are working outside as the heat index will be over 100 degrees. Take frequent breaks out of the sun, hydrate accordingly, make sure pets are not in direct sun and have plenty of water, and check on loved ones and neighbors as the heat can be dangerous.
