I am attaching the website for the Southside Bridge project below. I would ask that everyone look at the map section and familiarized yourself of the details. There are isssues that I have concern about for our area in the path of travel to and from Whorton Bend. I also ask that everyone that can, please attend the meeting next week (June 20th) and voice your opinion to ALDOT. The meeting will be at the Southside Community Center 5-7pm.

Anyone with a disability requiring special assistance should contact the ALDOT Area office at the above address or call (256) 505-4956 at least two days in advance of the meeting. The meeting facilities are wheelchair accessible.

Here is an aerial of the Whorton Bend/Rainbow Dr. intersection of improvements that I and State Legislators have applied for a grant. Hopefully this will be awarded and make traffic flow better in the future for coming and going out of Whorton’s Bend. Thank you to the Legislative body, our county engineer, and GMC for all the hard work to get this application put together. Updates to follow and feel like we have a good chance of getting this project accomplished!

As a follow up from the ALDOT meeting in Southside last week, I want to thank the City of Southside Mayor and Council. The decision was made to let ALDOT know the Council and Mayor were not in favor of the plans and not to move forward. The plans were not going to be beneficial to Southside, Rainbow City, or District 6 County Commission. Thank you to all involved in this matter, together we will and can make a difference!!

As a Candidate for District 6, I attended the meeting last night at Southside City Hall in regards to the Southside Bridge construction project. I have personally talked with the Mayor and council of both Rainbow City and Southside to express the negative impact for our district. The project will be horrible for traffic on 411 South as well as the issue of through traffic in Whorton Bend. The project is very important to our community and hopefully my efforts with the councils will help stop the project. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me anytime. Thanks and hope to have your support June 5th!!
