We had an absolute blast hosting our Junior Forensic Camp! Our young recruits took their training seriously, learning everything from the art of fingerprinting to the complexities of crime scene photography and evidence packaging. 📸🔎

A massive thank you to Agent Ritzert from the Wake County Bureau of Forensic Services! She provided an incredible presentation and led the students through hands-on exercises in footprint impressions, crime scene navigation, and identifying clues. The kids even got to try their hand at making a professional footprint impression casting! 👣✨

After lunch, the real work began! Each student was assigned a unique role, rotating through different "crime scenes" to practice DNA collection, fingerprint lifting, and evidence preservation. 🧪🧤

We want to give a huge shout-out to the students for their focus and to the parents for supporting these future investigators. And of course, another huge thank you to Agent Ritzert for such an inspiring day!

(P.S. Someone needs to tell our Community Outreach Officer that they need to take a photography class from Agent Ritzert ASAP—we need these photos to be just as good as those crime scene photos! 😉📸)

The Fuquay-Varina Police Department has seen an increase in reports of Government Impersonation Scams and Grandparent Scams over the past several weeks. Please take a moment to review this information and share it with your friends, family members, and especially older adults who are frequently targeted by these criminals.

🔹 Government Impersonation Scams
If you receive a call, text message, or email claiming that you missed a court date or jury duty and must immediately pay a fine or face arrest, it is a scam.

Courts and law enforcement agencies do NOT demand payment over the phone, request gift cards or cryptocurrency, or threaten immediate arrest for missed appearances.

🔹 Grandparent Scams
In this scam, criminals pretend to be a grandchild or close family member in distress. They may claim they have been arrested, involved in a crash, or hospitalized and urgently need money.

Scammers often pressure victims to send money through wire transfers, gift cards, or cryptocurrency and may beg them not to tell other family members.

The Fuquay-Varina Police Department is proud to announce the recent promotions of two dedicated members of our team! To mark this milestone, the department held a promotion ceremony to celebrate their hard work and commitment to public safety.

Both will serve in the Field Operations division: Lieutenant Wallinger in the Traffic Safety Unit and Sergeant Bissette with C Platoon on uniformed patrol.

ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE:

Run the Quay 2026
Downtown Fuquay neighborhoods will experience temporary street closures this Saturday, June 6, 2026, between 6:00 AM and 10:30 AM for the annual Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce "Run the Quay" 5K and 10K races.

Key Information:
Impacted Areas: Main outlining streets include Ennis Street, Woodrow Street, East Academy Street, Angier Road, and Holland Road (please see the attached route maps for full details).
Traffic Control: Police officers will manage main intersections, and volunteers will be stationed throughout the route to assist.
Resident Access: Officers and volunteers will work to safely accommodate residents needing to enter or leave the area. However, participant safety is our top priority, so please expect delays.

🐾🏒 K-9 Shadow here with an important game-day message! 🏒🐾

Tonight, all eyes are on our hometown team, the Carolina Hurricanes, as they take the ice for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Las Vegas Golden Knights right here in Carolina!

I've been hard at work sniffing out the competition, and while I haven't found the Stanley Cup yet, I do know one thing - the loudest, proudest fans in hockey will be bringing the storm tonight! 🌪️

From all of us at the Fuquay-Varina Police Department, we wish the Hurricanes the best of luck as they defend home ice and continue their quest for hockey's ultimate prize.

This past Monday, during the regularly scheduled Board of Commissioners meeting, the Fuquay-Varina Police Department was proud to present the results of our recent North Carolina League of Municipalities (NCLM) Risk Review.

We are excited to announce that our department has earned this award for the second time—first in 2023 and again in March 2024!

The NCLM Risk Review is a voluntary, peer-reviewed evaluation program for municipal police agencies participating in the League’s insurance pools. The review ensures that we are adhering to industry best practices, current court decisions, and strict policies designed to mitigate liability, enhance officer safety, and meet the highest operating standards.

Because of our commitment to excellence, the Fuquay-Varina Police Department is currently one of only TWO agencies in the entire state of North Carolina to hold accreditation with CALEA, NCLEA, and the NCLM Risk Review.

We are proud to maintain these rigorous standards to better serve and protect the residents of Fuquay-Varina!

We wrapped up an unforgettable year last night with students, staff, and proud family members! A massive shoutout to Officer Wilson for his tireless dedication, energy, and leadership over the last two years. This club has been a total success because of you!

What a productive day!

Our team has been on the move since early this morning. We kicked things off with the StreetSafe teen driving event, helping our local youth develop safer driving habits. We also had the honor of participating in the Annual Mental Health Awareness event, continuing our commitment to the wellbeing of every citizen in our town.

To top off the day, we attended the VFW Post 7383 First Responders Banquet and Award Ceremony. We are incredibly proud to announce that Corporal Kevin Bissette was recognized and received an award for his proactive initiatives and hard work over the past year.

Please join us in congratulating Corporal Bissette and all the other dedicated first responders who were honored tonight for their service and sacrifice.
