City of Rockport Implements Stage 1 Mild Water Shortage

The City of Rockport is pleased to announce that the City is moving from Stage 2 Moderate Water Shortage Conditions to Stage 1 Mild Water Shortage Conditions, effective immediately. This change reflects improved water supply conditions and allows for a reduction in water use restrictions while continuing to encourage responsible water conservation. The City appreciates the community’s continued efforts to conserve water and help protect the reliability of our regional water supply.

The city encourages all residents and businesses to do their part to conserve water. Under Stage 1, mandatory restrictions apply to certain non-essential water uses, with the goal of achieving a 5% reduction in total daily water demand.

Under Stage 1 Mild Water Shortage Restrictions, the following measures are in effect:
• Mandatory compliance with all Stage 1 water restrictions.
• Irrigation using hose-end sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems is prohibited between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
• Outdoor watering with hose-end sprinklers and automatic irrigation systems is limited to once per week according to the City's designated watering schedule.
• Irrigation using a handheld hose with a positive shutoff nozzle, faucet-filled bucket, watering can of five gallons or less, or drip irrigation system with a positive shutoff device is permitted on any day.
• Exceptions to the once-per-week watering restriction may be approved for new plantings for up to 60 days, vegetable gardens, athletic playing fields, and botanical gardens.
• Golf course greens, tees, and fairways may only be irrigated on designated watering days when using City water.
• Water used to maintain the structural integrity of building foundations is limited to designated watering days.
• Customers are encouraged to promptly repair controllable leaks and practice additional water conservation measures.

Stage 1 Watering Schedule
• Tuesday: Even-numbered residential addresses
• Wednesday: Odd-numbered residential addresses
• Thursday: Multifamily properties and commercial customers

The City's Drought Contingency Plan does not apply to irrigation systems supplied by private water wells or aerobic septic systems. Properties using these systems must display a prominent, legible sign stating, "Water Well."

The City will continue monitoring water supply conditions and will adjust drought response measures as necessary. Residents and businesses are encouraged to conserve water and adopt water-wise practices to help protect Rockport's water supply.

On August 10, 2026 Aransas County instituted a countywide burn ban due to heightened risk of fire. This will remain in place for 60 days unless extended or rescinded by the county commissioners. Open fires are now prohibited in Aransas County.

In preparation for the 2026-2027 school year, the Fulton Police Department and the Town of Fulton have updated the school zone times/areas for the Fulton Elementary School.

The speed limit during school zone times is 20mph and the school times have been updated to reflect 7:00am-8:00am in the morning(s) and 2:45pm-4:00pm in the afternoon(s).

The school zone areas have also been updated to reflect the following areas:

Chaparral Street from 5th Street to 7th Street
Mesquite Street from 5th Street to 7th Street
5th Street from the 200 block to Mesquite Street
6th Street from the 200 block to Laurel Street to 7th Street
7th Street from the 200 block to Mesquite Street

New signs have been ordered/set-up to reflect these changes as well as additional signage to address that these areas are also Drug Free and Gun Free zones.

Don't forget about the Flashing School Zone on State Highway 35 between Broadway/FM 3036 and the Hampton Inn & Suites.

Also, here are a few reminders:

🛑 Slow down and obey all posted school zone speed limits.
🚸 Watch for children crossing streets, walking, and riding bicycles.
🚌 Be prepared to stop for school buses loading and unloading students.
📵 Eliminate distractions and keep your attention on the road.

City of Rockport Eases Water Restrictions to Stage 2

The City of Rockport has reduced its drought response from Stage 3 to Stage 2 Mandatory Water Restrictions, effective immediately. The change reflects improved water supply conditions while continuing to promote responsible water conservation throughout the community.

The City appreciates the cooperation of residents and businesses whose conservation efforts have helped protect Rockport's water resources during challenging drought conditions. Although conditions have improved, continued conservation remains essential to ensure a reliable water supply for the community.

Under Stage 2 Mandatory Water Restrictions, the following measures are in effect:
• Mandatory compliance with all water restrictions.
• Outdoor watering is prohibited between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
• Irrigation using a handheld hose with a positive shutoff nozzle, faucet-filled bucket, watering can (less than five gallons), or drip irrigation with a positive shutoff device is permitted on any day.
• Hose-end sprinklers and automatic irrigation systems are limited to every other week according to the City's watering schedule.
• Newly installed landscaping may be watered for up to 60 days during approved watering hours and is not restricted to once-per-week watering.
• Vehicle washing at a residence is permitted on the designated watering day.
• Refilling swimming pools and Jacuzzis are permitted on the designated watering day.
• Water may be used as necessary to maintain the structural integrity of building foundations.

• Wednesday: Odd-numbered residential addresses
• Thursday: Multifamily properties and commercial customers

The City's Drought Contingency Plan does not apply to irrigation systems supplied by private water wells or aerobic septic systems. The City of Rockport will continue monitoring water supply conditions and will adjust drought response measures as necessary. Residents are encouraged to continue practicing water-wise habits to help preserve this valuable resource.
