It's National CPR & AED Awareness Week (June 1–7), and there's no better time to learn a skill that could save someone you love. 💙

When sudden cardiac arrest happens, every second counts. CPR started immediately can double or even triple a person's chance of survival. The best part? You don't need to be a medical professional, and you don't need formal certification to act.

Hands-Only CPR takes just two steps:
1️⃣ Call 911
2️⃣ Push hard and fast in the center of the chest
That's it. Those two steps can keep a heart pumping until help arrives.

This week, we're asking our community to do one thing: make sure the people in your home know how to respond in an emergency. Teach your kids. Show your parents. Locate the nearest AED at your school, gym, or workplace. A family that knows how to save a life is a family prepared for the unexpected.

Learn Hands-Only CPR today it takes less time than this post took to read.

10 days of praise online. A lifetime of appreciation.

Knowing when to fight or flee a fire helps ensure you can stay safe and avoid turning a small fire into a bigger incident. A portable fire extinguisher works best on early-stage fires, not a growing room fire.

If the fire is spreading, producing heavy smoke, or cutting off your exit, the extinguisher is no longer the plan. Evacuate right away and call for help. This choice can save lives, no matter the location, making every second count.

🚨 It’s the first of the month, time to test your smoke alarms!

Your reminder from the Clark Burn Center Team: take a minute today to press the test button on every smoke alarm in your home.

A smoke alarm with a dead or missing battery is the same as having no smoke alarm at all. Smoke alarms only work when they are properly installed and regularly tested.

✅ Hear the beep? It’s working.
🔇 No beep? Check the battery or replace the alarm.
🐤 Chirp… chirp… chirp? Don’t ignore it.

If your alarm has a replaceable battery, change the battery and test it again.
If it has a sealed 10-year battery, replace the alarm according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
