Today our Steamers are heading off on the adventure of a lifetime! ✈️🌍

We wish our students and chaperones safe travels as they journey to London, Paris, and Barcelona. This incredible opportunity will allow them to explore history, culture, science, art, and innovation beyond the classroom while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Have an amazing trip, represent FHS well, and enjoy every moment of this unforgettable experience! 🇬🇧🇫🇷🇪🇸

Congratulations to Russel McCallister on his induction into the Illinois Sports Hall of Fame!

The Illinois Sports Hall of Fame is proud to recognize Russel McCallister of Fulton, Illinois, whose remarkable achievements as both an athlete and coach have left a lasting impact on wrestling and football in the state of Illinois.

As a standout wrestler at Fulton High School, Russel compiled an incredible 135-18 career record, earning two All-State honors, a State Runner-Up finish in 2000, and a 4th Place State finish in 1999. At the time of his graduation, he held school records for career victories and career falls, with an astounding 81 pins. He continued his wrestling career at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, competing at both 184 and 197 pounds.

On the football field, Russel was equally dominant. During his senior season, he rushed for 2,018 yards, averaged 9.9 yards per carry, and scored 28 touchdowns while earning 1st Team All-Conference honors on both offense and defense. A team captain and Offensive MVP, he helped lead Fulton to the state semifinals and delivered one of the most memorable playoff performances in school history with five touchdowns in a single playoff game.

While his accomplishments as an athlete are impressive, Russel's impact as a coach may be even greater. Returning to his alma mater, he dedicated more than a decade to the Fulton wrestling program, helping develop 18 state qualifiers, 12 state place winners, 3 state champions, and a state runner-up. Among his proudest achievements was watching athletes he coached surpass the records he once held, a testament to his commitment to developing the next generation.

When asked what he hopes athletes take from his career, Russel's answer speaks volumes about his character: "I hope my career gives future athletes a bar to reach and exceed. Some of my greatest memories are when athletes I coached beat my records and I was in the corner to witness it happen. More importantly, I hope the lessons learned through sports shape them into thriving and excelling adults." Through perseverance, dedication, teamwork, and leadership, he has done exactly that.

Congratulations, Russel McCallister, on this well-deserved honor and your induction into the Illinois Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2026!
