Everyone deserves to be heard. Language, immigration status, and stigma can make reaching out harder for survivors of color.

For 50 years, our mission has been to serve survivors. As our community grows, so does our commitment to reaching everyone. We offer workshops in Spanish and have an AAPI specialist for the Asian community, and we are listening, learning, and sharing culturally specific resources.

Love shouldn’t hurt in any language. 💜

Everyone takes an L sometimes. Rejection stings, and those feelings are real. What matters is what we do next.

A “no” is a complete answer, and respecting it helps build a safer campus and community. Domestic violence and sexual assault are about power and control, never about rejection.

Swipe to see how you can take the L.

In partnership with CSULB Student Health Services and the Men’s Success Initiative.

“Why don’t they just leave?” is the wrong question.

Psychological safety is personal and situational, and it is the foundation that helps survivors feel safe enough to take the next step, in their own time.

We are grateful to Dr. Anita Polite-Wilson and our panelists for an honest, hopeful conversation.

Help is here for everyone.

We couldn’t gather in person today because of the rain, but we’re still taking this moment to pause.

Today we hold two things at once. We remember the lives lost to domestic violence. And we celebrate every survivor who has chosen safety, healing, and hope.

1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men experience r**e, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

That means someone you know may be carrying this. You can be the person who says, “I believe you.”

Survivors, your strength is radiant. We’re honored to walk beside you at your own pace.

For 50 years, Orange County has shown up for survivors. Yesterday, we asked what comes next, and the answer was clear: we do it together.

Thank you to the leaders who shared their voices at our Safety Panel Discussion: Building Safer Communities:

• Krista Colon, Executive Director, California Partnership to End Domestic Violence
• Lt. Daniel Gonzalez, Orange County Family Justice Center Commander, Anaheim Police Department
• Mark Lee, Chief Executive Officer, Radiant Futures
• Natalie Rubalcava, Council Member, City of Anaheim

Thank you also to Dr. Anita Polite-Wilson of Dr. Anita Enterprises, Inc. for guiding the conversation with care, and to everyone who joined us in the room.

The work you do every day keeps our communities safe, and it gives us real hope for the next 50 years.

Telling someone about abuse takes enormous courage. How we respond can shape what happens next.

When someone trusts you with their story, you can:
+ Say “I believe you”
+ Listen without judgment
+ Let them decide what comes next
+ Ask how you can support them

Every survivor deserves to be believed.

Need support, or know someone who does? Call our 24/7 helpline at 877-531-5522 or email/text [email protected]
