Responding to current emergencies and remaining proficient with the skills required to prevent and suppress fires, deliver emergency medical care and educate members of our community in health and safety issues requires constant awareness and training. Through continuous training, efficient and effective operations, advanced equipment and a commitment to our mission, we are prepared to meet a variety of emergency and non-emergency situations. Our Fire Prevention Bureau provides a variety of services. We consult with developers and contractors to ensure code compliance for new projects to be built in the Town, we are involved throughout the planning and construction process, as well as conducting periodic inspections throughout the year to ensure continued code compliance and safety for our community. We proudly welcomed four new fire engines into service through a longstanding fire service tradition—the apparatus commissioning, or “wash down,” ceremony.

Hosted by Assistant Chief of Operations, Chris Abramczyk, and attended by Fire Chief Jorge Gonzalez, the ceremony brought together Town leaders, firefighters, and residents to celebrate this important milestone. Mayor Judy Paul pulled the ceremonial lever, allowing Vice Mayor Michelle Whitman and Councilmembers Daniel J. Alfonso, Susan Starkey, and Marlon Luis to participate in the wash down of the engine assigned to their district.

Not your average highway rescue. 🐐🦆

Earlier today, Davie Fire Rescue responded to a minor crash on I-75 involving a vehicle towing a petting zoo trailer. While one adult male was transported with non-life-threatening injuries, the animals had a different concern: finding a safe place to wait.

Our crews assisted the owner with transferring the animals into a replacement trailer and helped keep everyone calm and secure until they were back on the road.

The good news? No animals were injured, and every member of this traveling petting zoo made it safely to their new ride.

Sometimes our calls involve more than people. Today, it was ducks, goats, chickens, and a little extra teamwork. 🚒🐐🦆🐔

Davie Fire Rescue’s Administration Office will be closed on Thursday June 18, 2026, in observance of the Juneteenth Holiday.

Administrative staff will resume normal business hours on Monday, June 22, 2026.

Please note that fire rescue emergency services will continue to operate 24/7. In the event of an emergency, always call 9-1-1.

HEAVY SMOKE ADVISORY

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and the Florida Forest Service continue to work an active brush fire in southwest Miami-Dade.

While there is no immediate threat to Davie or Southwest Ranches, changing wind conditions may cause smoke to drift into portions of Broward County, resulting in reduced visibility and impacts to air quality.

Residents may notice the smell of smoke or hazy conditions, particularly during the early morning and evening hours.

Health & Safety Tips:
• Limit prolonged outdoor activity if smoke is visible or air quality is poor.
• Keep windows and doors closed when possible.
• Run your air conditioning on recirculate and ensure filters are clean.
• Individuals with asthma, COPD, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions should take extra precautions and keep medications readily available.
• Seek medical attention if you experience difficulty breathing, chest pain, severe coughing, or worsening respiratory symptoms.
• Use caution while driving in areas with reduced visibility due to smoke.

Davie Fire Rescue is monitoring conditions and will provide updates as necessary. Stay informed through official sources and continue to follow guidance from local public safety agencies.

Davie Fire Rescue responded to assist after a horse became stuck and was unable to stand. Crews arrived with specialized rescue equipment ready to help, but the horse was able to get back on its feet on its own before it was needed.

What a day!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Ready Davie 2026 and helped make this year’s event a tremendous success. Families from across our community came together to learn valuable preparedness and safety information, meet local organizations, explore emergency vehicles, participate in hands-on activities, and take home resources to help them prepare for the unexpected.

From our Kids’ Firefighter Challenge and Touch-A-Truck experience to the many giveaways, demonstrations, and educational exhibits, the day was filled with opportunities to learn, connect, and have fun.

A special thank you to our Town departments, community partners, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and public safety personnel who dedicated their time and expertise to help make this event possible. Your support plays a vital role in building a safer, more resilient community.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Rick Case Power House, The Home Depot, and Lowe’s for their generous raffle donations, which included grills and a Honda generator. Your contributions helped make the event even more exciting for our attendees.

We are grateful to everyone who attended and look forward to seeing you again next year!

What started as a response to a water main break turned into the capture of a neighborhood alligator that had reportedly evaded removal efforts for nearly two years.

When the gator decided to leave the flooded area and head toward a nearby residence, firefighters and Davie Police safely stepped in and prevented an unwanted house call.

🚒 New Engines. Ready to Serve. 🚒

Join us at Ready Davie as we celebrate the commissioning of four new fire engines—one assigned to each of Davie Fire Rescue’s operational districts.

The commissioning, or “wash down,” ceremony is a longstanding fire service tradition that dates back to the early days of firefighting. Historically, new apparatus were washed and prepared before being placed into service, symbolizing their readiness to protect the community. Today, departments across the country continue this tradition as a way to honor the past while welcoming new equipment into their fleet.

During the ceremony, members of the Davie Town Council will participate in the ceremonial wash down of the new engines, officially marking their transition into service.

These four new engines represent Davie Fire Rescue’s ongoing investment in public safety, reliability, and emergency response capabilities. With one engine serving each district, these apparatus will help ensure our firefighters have the tools they need to respond quickly and effectively whenever our community calls.

Join us this Saturday at Ready Davie! as we celebrate this special milestone and welcome the newest additions to the Davie Fire Rescue fleet.
