Have you noticed some new art taking shape along the Colorado Riverfront Trail?

Students from Fruita Monument High School are currently bringing a new mural to life beneath the railroad bridge along the Kokopelli section of the trail!

The mural is part of Public Art 101, a hands-on program where students have been learning what it takes to bring a public art project from idea to reality. Theyโ€™ve explored community engagement, developed concepts, presented their ideas to Fruita City Council, and are now putting those ideas into action.

Weโ€™re excited to watch this project come together and celebrate the creativity these students are bringing to Fruita. If youโ€™re out on the trail, keep an eye on the mural as it continues to take shape! ๐ŸŽ‰

Quick Snooks Bottom Update!

Yesterday's rain caused some damage along the south side of the trail at Snooks Bottom, including a washed-out culvert that will need to be repaired. Signs and cones are in place, so please use a little extra caution in the area.

The lower disc golf course also has quite a bit of standing water right now and isnโ€™t playable.

Thanks for giving these areas some space while things dry out and our crews work on repairs!

Holy rain, Fruita!

This storm is bringing a lot of water in a short amount of time, and there are areas around town that are currently flooded.

Please avoid these areas and drive safely. Never drive through standing or moving water when you can't see the road beneath it.

Public Works crews are out helping pump water from the areas hit hardest. If you see flooding or storm damage that needs to be reported, call our Public Works after-hours duty line at 970-250-7835 or the Fruita Police Department non-emergency line at 970-242-6707.

If it's an emergency, always call 911.

Come hang out with the Fruita Livability Commission for their very first Bike Safety Festival!

Saturday, August 29 | 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. | Shelledy Elementary

The first few weeks of school are when new routes get learned, so bring the whole family out for a morning of riding, learning, and a few good prizes.

Our bike rodeo will guide riders of every age through the basics: signaling, scanning, braking with confidence, and reading the intersections and driveways we all cross every day. It's a low-pressure course built for wobbly first-timers and seasoned commuters alike.

Giveaways run throughout the morning, and three riders will roll away with a $100 gift card to a local bike shop.

All ages welcome. Bring your bike and helmet, and we'll take care of the rest.
