The Frontenac Police Department is a full service public safety agency providing quality policing services to the citizens of Frontenac, Crystal Lake Park, Huntleigh, and Westwood. The twenty-one sworn officers and one civilian staff member are committed to the established departmental Mission and Values that frame our partnership with the community we serve. It is this partnership that fosters the wonderful quality of life that those who live and work in our area enjoy.

🚨 LABOR DAY WEEKEND: DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER 🚨

This Labor Day weekend, the Frontenac Police Department will be on the lookout for impaired drivers.

If you're drinking, don't get behind the wheel. Plan ahead and designate a sober driver or find a safe ride home.

NHTSA reports that 11,904 people were killed in alcohol-impaired driving crashes in 2024—about 32 lives lost every day.

Let’s keep our roads and community safe.

🚨 SLOW DOWN. ARRIVE ALIVE. 🚨

Speeding isn’t a gamble worth taking. You could get a ticket — or much worse.

According to NHTSA, 11,288 people were killed in speeding-related crashes in 2024, accounting for 29% of all traffic fatalities. An estimated 316,757 people were injured in speeding-related crashes that year.

Speeding Slows You Down. Take your time, obey the speed limit, and help keep our roads safe.

Just remember, you’re still a student driver, so:

⏰ Leave early so you’re not driving like you’re late for the Indy 500. 🏎️💨

🐾☀️ August is Still Hot—Keep Your Pets Safe! ☀️🐾

While summer may be winding down, the heat isn't! A few simple steps can help keep your four-legged family members safe:

💧 Keep fresh water available at all times.
🌳 Provide plenty of shade when outdoors.
🚗 Never leave a pet in a parked vehicle—even for a few minutes.
🐕 Walk during the cooler morning or evening hours.
🔥 Remember, hot pavement can burn sensitive paws.

If your pet shows signs of heat exhaustion—such as excessive panting, weakness, drooling, or vomiting—move them to a cool area and contact your veterinarian immediately.

🎒📚 School starts in just a few short weeks! 🚸

That means school buses, crossing guards, and excited students will soon be back on our streets (and yes, those backpacks are still bigger than they are!).

As the new school year approaches, remember to:
🛑 Slow down in school zones.
🚌 Stop for school buses.
📵 Put the phone away and stay alert.
🚸 Watch for children walking and biking to school.

A few extra seconds of caution can make all the difference. Let's work together to help every student get to and from school safely.

🚗🔒 Lock It or Lose It! 🔒🚗

It only takes a few seconds for an unlocked vehicle to become an easy target for theft. Help protect your belongings and reduce vehicle break-ins by following these simple safety tips:

✅ Always lock your vehicle—even if you're only stepping away for a moment.
✅ Remove valuables such as purses, wallets, electronics, and fi****ms, or keep them out of sight.
✅ Never leave your keys or key fob inside your vehicle.
✅ Close all windows and lock all doors before walking away.
✅ Park in well-lit areas whenever possible.

Many vehicle break-ins are crimes of opportunity. Taking these simple precautions can make a big difference in keeping your property safe.

👀 If you see suspicious activity in your neighborhood or someone checking vehicle door handles, report it immediately. Your call could help prevent a crime.

📞 To report suspicious activity that is NOT an emergency, contact West Central Dispatch Center (WCDC) at 314-737-4600.
🚨 If you witness a crime in progress or there is an immediate emergency, always call 911.

Crime Prevention Tip

Don't Fall for Phone Scams. Scammers often impersonate government agencies, banks, utility companies, or even family members in distress. Protect yourself by following these simple tips:

• Don't answer calls from unknown numbers unless you're expecting one.
• Never give out personal, banking, or Social Security information over the phone.
• Be suspicious of callers who pressure you to act immediately or demand payment using gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers.
• If someone claims to represent a business or government agency, hang up and call the organization back using a phone number you know is legitimate.
• If a call seems suspicious, block the number and report it to the appropriate authorities.
• Talk with older family members and friends about common scams—they are often targeted by fraudsters.

If something doesn't feel right, trust your instincts. Hang up, verify the information independently, and never let a caller pressure you into making a quick decision.
