“From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised.” - Psalm 113:3

Morning to evening. Beginning to end. Whatever the day brings, God remains worthy of our attention and our praise.

The fence may frame the sunset tonight, but the reminder reaches far beyond this field:

Keep your eyes on the Light.

The old logs of the Twyman/Bergt Cabin have stood for generations. But preserving them and bringing this cabin back to life doesn’t happen quickly.

Restoration takes time.

It takes resources. It takes patience. It takes skilled hands willing to carefully repair what has been damaged without destroying what is worth saving. And maybe most importantly, it takes people who care enough to see what something can become again.

God’s restoration of us can look much the same.

We often want Him to work quickly, to repair the broken places, answer the questions, remove the hurt, and make everything whole again. But God is rarely in a hurry. He patiently works on places we might rather cover up. He strengthens what has become weak. He removes what no longer belongs. And sometimes He uses other people to help with the work.

There are moments when restoration can look messy and unfinished. But unfinished doesn’t mean abandoned.

The Twyman/Bergt Cabin is standing today because people looked beyond what it was and saw what it could be. They believed it was worth the time, the effort, and the investment.

God sees us with an even greater love.

“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” — Philippians 1:6

God is still working. Still rebuilding. Still restoring.

And what a beautiful reminder that anything worth restoring is worth taking the time to restore well.

BIG DAY! The basement walls are poured! Several trucks of concrete and gravel rolled in today, and the footings on the south end are poured too. It’s exciting to see this project really starting to take shape. Yay!!!

There’s something about a river that reminds us that life keeps moving.

We can’t see where the water has been, and we can’t see every bend ahead. We simply see the stretch in front of us.

Our lives are much the same. God rarely shows us the whole journey. He gives us enough light for where we are today and asks us to trust Him with what’s around the bend.

“We walk by faith, not by sight.” - 2 Corinthians 5:7

Maybe peace isn’t knowing exactly where the river leads.

Maybe it’s knowing Who goes with us.

Cleaning up after last night’s storm at Saxon. Starting with a downed tree, then we’ll make our way across the property gathering up limbs and debris. Thankfully, nothing we can’t handle!

We usually wait for the extraordinary sunsets at Saxon. The ones that paint the whole sky with color and make you stop whatever you’re doing.

Tonight was simpler.

Just the sun settling over a green field. A quiet evening. Nothing demanding our attention.

And maybe that’s why it was worth noticing.

So much of what makes life beautiful is easy to pass by because it isn’t spectacular. A conversation. A familiar view. Laughter around the table. A few quiet minutes at the end of the day. Simple gifts from God that are there every day if we take the time to notice them.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” — Ecclesiastes 3:11

Tonight’s sunset didn’t ask us to stop and stare.

But we did.

And maybe that’s the reminder. Take time to enjoy the simple things, too.
