The Monroe County Rescue Squad was honored to assist Jackson Rescue Squad at Gainestown Landing in Clark County. Using sonar, the vehicle,a Ford F-250, was located and then successfully rigged and extracted by Jackson Divers with assistance from our Monroe County divers.

During the operation, our teams also recovered a Yamaha boat motor that had gone into the water about a week ago.

We want to extend a big thank you to Jackson Rescue and Enterprise Rescue for their teamwork and dedication. Together, we continue to serve our communities!

Today we remember the countless families forever changed, and the bravery of the first responders who ran toward danger when others ran away.

As a Rescue Squad, we stand in honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice and commit ourselves to carry on their legacy of service, courage, and selflessness.

On May 4, 2025, the Monroe County Rescue Squad (MCRS) responded to a submerged vessel located in the middle of the river, South of Eureka Landing. Upon arrival, MCRS was able to rig to the vessel and divers searched for identification.

Through collaborative efforts with Jackson Rescue Squad, MCRS rigged the vessel and successfully extracted it from the main channel. The vessel was then towed back to Eureka Landing and removed from the water and transferred away safely.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Jackson Rescue, Castillow Towing, Enterprise Rescue, and ALEA for their invaluable contributions to the successful recovery operation.

The Monroe County Rescue Squad recently conducted a two-day training session on utilizing our new MK2 towed sonar. The training curriculum encompassed both classroom instruction and practical application.

On the first day, classroom instruction was provided by Kyle Dufault with Marine Sonic Technology, who demonstrated the sonar’s capabilities and operational procedures. The second day was dedicated to hands-on training, where participants utilized the sonar in the Alabama River.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Mr. Dufault and all attendees. Their expertise will enhance our ability to serve our community effectively and assist those in need.

On Monday, February 24th, the Monroe County Rescue Squad (MCRS) provided assistance to a missing boater on the Blakeley River. The individual’s boat capsized on February 16th. MCRS conducted a sonar search in the vicinity of Interstate 10 for a combined distance of 15 miles, in collaboration with two other MCRS vessels that searched the water’s surface.
