🧩 Today, on Autism Awareness Day, we reflect on this year’s theme that every life has value.

Every individual on the autism spectrum brings unique perspectives, strengths, and contributions that enrich our families and our communities in ways that deserve to be recognized, respected, and celebrated.

As a search and rescue team, Blue SAR’s role within the autism community carries a deep responsibility. When a child or vulnerable individual on the spectrum goes missing, often due to wandering, we understand that time is critical.

Our commitment is to respond quickly, search effectively, and work alongside our partners to bring vulnerable individuals home safely. 💙

💙 April is Autism Acceptance Month 💙

At Blue SAR, we understand that behind every search is a person, someone deeply loved, profoundly missed, and inherently valuable. That truth does not change based on ability, communication, or circumstance.

We stand alongside families and caregivers committed to keeping their loved ones safe in a world not always built with them in mind.

🌊 SPRING BREAK SAFETY TIP 🌊

As public pools get busier over spring break, what your swimmer wears matters more than most families realize.

Bright, bold swimwear makes children easier to see in the water — especially in crowded pools. Dark colors and muted tones can quickly blend into the bottom of the pool, making it harder to spot a swimmer immediately.

✔️ Choose bright neon colors like pink, orange, lime green, and yellow
❌ Avoid dark blue, black, gray, or white that can disappear underwater

The right swimwear not only improves visibility, but also supports better
movement, comfort, and overall confidence during swim time.

Before heading out, take a quick look at what works best in the pool/lake and what to skip.

A simple choice today can make a big difference tomorrow.

Constable Mark Herman’s Office wishes everyone a fun, safe, and splash-filled spring break. ☀️🌊

Today we recognize the incredible women who answer the call in Search and Rescue.

From the field to the command post, women in SAR bring strength, skill, compassion, and relentless determination to the mission of bringing missing people home.

To the women in operations, the searchers covering miles of terrain, the K9 handlers, the leads keeping teams on course, and the women behind the scenes making maps, coordinating logistics, raising funds, and keeping missions moving forward, know that you are all essential to bringing the missing home.

We also recognize the momma bears…the women who refuse to give up on a case, who fight for the missing, and who carry families in their hearts long after the search ends.

Happy International Women’s Day to the women who search, lead, advocate, and never give up. 💙🧭🐾

🛟 Spring Break is almost here! Water adventures can be thrilling, but they can also be risky. Look out for your friends, wear a personal flotation device (PFD), and stay alert while having fun.

Safety first, memories second! 🌊

Life jackets aren’t just for kids — they’re for everyone.

Texas law requires:
• Children under 13 to wear a life jacket while underway
• Enough properly fitted life jackets for everyone on board

You never plan to fall in.
But the lake doesn’t ask first.

03/02/2026

During Women’s History Month, we pause to celebrate the strength, courage, and achievements of women across generations. But we also hold space for the women whose stories are unfinished - the women who are missing, the women whose lives were taken too soon, and the mothers and daughters who live every day in the shadow of that absence.

Across our nation, thousands of women are reported missing each year. According to the FBI’s 2024 National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Missing Person Statistics, over 70,000 adult women (18+) were reported missing in the United States in 2024 alone, not including children. Behind each of these numbers is a name, a story, and a family left waiting.

Women’s History Month is about recognition, not only of accomplishments, but of resilience. We recognize the mothers who search tirelessly. The daughters who advocate. The grandmothers who refuse to let a case go cold. The sisters who keep birthdays marked on calendars. The families who live between hope and heartbreak.

We recognize the women who are still missing.
We recognize the women whose voices were silenced.
We recognize the women whose families continue to fight for truth and justice.

This month, instead of celebrating ourselves, we honor them and we stand alongside the women and families who carry the weight of absence with extraordinary strength.

We will continue to search.
We will continue to advocate.
We will continue to remember.
