COALINGA —The Department of Transportation (Caltrans), in cooperation with Cal Valley Construction, announces the following schedule update in part of the State Route 33 Pavement Rehabilitation Project in the City of Coalinga.
The following will occur the nights of Sunday, June 7th and Monday, June 8th, each night, from 9:00pm to 6:00am:
• The contractor will begin the repaving the southbound lanes of Elm Avenue (State Route 33) between the Los Gatos Creek Bridge and 5th Street.
• To perform the paving operations, temporary striping will shift traffic along southbound Elm Avenue (State Route 33) to the northbound lanes of Elm Avenue (State Route 33) preceding the work area in both directions.
• Intersections of Elm Avenue (State Route 33) will be intermittently closed at:
o Cambridge Avenue, Cherry Lane, 3rd Street, and 5th Street
o The traffic signal lights at these intersections will be placed on flashing red and will act as a 4-way stop intersection to facilitate traffic flow.
• Signed temporary detours will be in place to facilitate crossings at the open intersections to safely navigate around the work zones.
Closures may continue for longer periods of time, if necessary, due to delays caused by weather or uncontrollable events that may occur.
