Alex Peck, Child Support Case Worker

Alex is a lifelong member of our community and a 2021 graduate of Menifee County High School. After graduation he went on to attend Morehead State University, where he graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies and a minor in Criminology. Alex is the son of Chris Peck and Renee Peck.

Alex actually got his start with our office as an intern while he was in college. Before that, he worked at George B. Stone and Clay Ingels during his school breaks. After graduating from MSU, Alex officially joined our team in December 2024 as a Child Support Case Worker.

As a Child Support Case Worker, Alex works with families to help establish and enforce child support orders. He locates parents, reviews and maintains case information, monitors payments, and takes appropriate steps when support obligations aren't being met. Most importantly, he works to make sure children receive the financial support they are entitled to.

It can be challenging work. Every case is different, and a case worker often has to navigate complicated family circumstances while working with multiple agencies and legal requirements. It takes patience, attention to detail, persistence, and a genuine commitment to helping families.

The office is fortunate to have someone like Alex on our team. His background in legal studies, his knowledge of our community, and his willingness to learn and take on the challenges of the job make him a valuable part of our office.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys hunting, working on projects outdoors, and spending time with his girlfriend, Faith Barker.

We’re proud to have Alex serving the families of Menifee County and are excited to see how his efficiency, dedication, and attention to detail will continue to strengthen our office and help us better serve the families who rely on us.

In Kentucky, passing a bad check is a crime. However, a business owner may only collect a fee in addition to the face value of the check if the proper notice is posted at the business.

Business owners may create and post their own notice. If you would like a notice for your business, our office has notices available for pickup at no cost.

When a bad check is turned over to our office, efforts are made to resolve and collect the debt before criminal charges are filed. Charges are pursued only after those efforts have been exhausted.

A Message Regarding Incidents at Menifee County Schools

I have received multiple calls and messages from members of our community asking for information regarding an incident that occurred at the high school today.

I understand the concern and the desire to know exactly what happened. When something happens involving our children, we all want answers, reassurance, and as much information as possible.

Unfortunately, when juvenile matters are involved, Kentucky law places strict confidentiality requirements on juvenile proceedings and records. Under Kentucky law, juvenile court records are confidential, and the County Attorney’s Office cannot publicly confirm or deny whether a juvenile proceeding exists or disclose details concerning a juvenile matter.

All allegations of criminal activity are taken seriously, and the safety of our children and our community is a top priority. The Menifee County Attorney’s Office has a long-standing working relationship with the Menifee County Sheriff Department, Menifee County School Police Department, and the Kentucky State Police. We work closely with these agencies on criminal matters brought to our office daily.

I know that sometimes the hardest part for a community is not being able to have all of the answers. Please understand that the limitation of the information my office can provide is a legal obligation to protect the confidentiality of juveniles and the integrity of the juvenile justice process.

As a mother, I share your concern for the children in our community. As your County Attorney, I am committed to doing my job, following the law, and working with law enforcement.

Sarah Carter, Victim Advocate

Sarah’s role goes far beyond assisting victims on the day of court. She works ahead on cases, reviews citations and case information, investigates potential victim-related issues, and works to ensure that no victim is overlooked and that restitution owed to victims is identified and addressed. She communicates with victims throughout the court process, helps them understand what to expect, connects them with resources, and advocates for their rights and interests.

Over the past three years, Sarah’s work has helped identify and pursue roughly $65,000 in restitution for victims, which the Court has ordered to be paid. Behind that number are real people who have suffered financial losses as the result of a crime, and Sarah works diligently to make sure those losses are not forgotten as their cases move through the justice system.

Sarah earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida, where she majored in Psychology and minored in Sociology. She was recognized on both the President’s List and Dean’s List throughout her undergraduate studies. Prior to becoming a Victim Advocate, Sarah also served as a Deputy Sheriff in Central Florida, giving her experience on multiple sides of the criminal justice system.

Advocacy is something that extends beyond Sarah’s professional life. Sarah serves as the court-appointed guardian for her elderly grandmother through the New York State court system, where she has been responsible for advocating for her grandmother’s safety, well-being, care, and financial interests during an especially vulnerable period of her life. That experience reflects the same determination and compassion she brings to the victims she serves every day.

Originally from New York, Sarah has been with her husband for 14 years, and together they have four daughters. She brings her education, law-enforcement background, compassion, persistence, and strong sense of justice to our office every day.

We are proud to have Sarah serving the victims of our community and working to ensure that every victim has a voice, every loss is recognized, and no one is overlooked.

🚨PAYMENT PLAN DEADLINE🚨

If you wish to enter into a payment plan and have your delinquent property tax bill removed from the bills being offered for sale to third-party purchasers, the payment plan must be executed and the initial payment made by close of business on Monday, August 24.

The Menifee County Clerk will conduct the delinquent tax bill sale on Tuesday, August 25, at 10:00 a.m.

Please call the office and ask to speak with Michelle if you are interested in more information on the payment plan option.

Michelle Peck, Administrative Executive

Michelle serves as the office’s administrative hub, helping keep everything organized and moving smoothly. She answers incoming calls, directs citizens and callers to the appropriate person, and helps ensure the day-to-day operations of the office run efficiently.

She also plays an important role in the court process by preparing all dockets before court and following up on matters after court. Michelle assists with the intake process for guardianship cases and Casey’s Law cases, helping ensure these matters are properly organized and ready for the next steps.

In addition, Michelle handles the preparation of delinquent tax payment plans, working with citizens to get the necessary paperwork completed and processed.

From the first phone call to the preparation of court documents and follow-up after court, Michelle is often one of the first points of contact for our office. Her organization, dependability, and willingness to help make her an invaluable part of our team.

Michelle is the daughter of Wanda Peck and the late Larry Peck, and proud mother of Matthew Trusty. When she’s not at work, Michelle enjoys attending car shows and traveling.

At today’s Fiscal Court meeting, Menifee County Attorney Megan Williams presented a check to the Menifee Fiscal Court representing surplus fees from the County Attorney’s Office.

Careful management of office resources make it possible to return surplus funds to the Fiscal Court and help support the important work being done across Menifee County.

County offices may each have different responsibilities, but we all share a common goal: serving the people of Menifee County and working together for the good of our community.

🚌🚨UPDATED LAW — EFFECTIVE JULY 15, 2026🚨🚌

As students have returned to school, the Menifee County Attorney’s Office is reminding motorists to become familiar with Kentucky's new school bus stopping law.

Effective July 15, Kentucky law requires drivers traveling in BOTH directions to stop for a school bus displaying its flashing red lights and extended stop arm unless the opposing lanes are separated by a physical barrier. A center turn lane is not considered a physical barrier.

Drivers must stop:
• When traveling behind a stopped school bus.
• When approaching a stopped school bus from the opposite direction on any roadway without a physical barrier separating traffic.

Drivers may continue only when opposing traffic is separated by a physical barrier, such as:
• A concrete barrier or wall
• A raised median
• A grass median
• Flexible delineators (yellow paddles) or other physical dividers

This means drivers must stop on many five-lane roads with a center-turn lane.

Passing a stopped school bus is dangerous and illegal.
📍First offense carries a $300 fine.
📍Second offense within three years carries a $500 fine.
📍🚌Violators also face six points on their license.

With school buses returning to Menifee County roadways motorists are reminded to stay alert, watch for children near bus stops and know when they are required to stop. Taking a few extra seconds could save a child’s life.

A friendly reminder as everyone enjoys the holiday weekend on Kentucky’s beautiful lakes and rivers:

The Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife reminds everyone that operating a boat under the influence is dangerous, illegal, and puts everyone on the water at risk. Just like on our roadways, impaired operation can have devastating consequences.

Make safety your top priority:
🇺🇸 Designate a sober boat operator.
🦺 Make sure everyone has a properly fitted life jacket.
☀️ Stay hydrated and be mindful of the heat.
🎣 Have fun, but always look out for yourself and others.
