Yesterday, Acting Engineer Machado, Acting Engineer Cabrera, Firefighter Rosario, and Firefighter Subia passed their 12 month probationary examinations. They received their firefighter shields and leather helmets. Congratulations gentlemen; keep up the good work and dedication to our communities.

Yesterday morning, at approximately 1115 hours, your French Camp Firefighters responded to reports of a large outside fire near SB Interstate 5 and French Camp Rd. Engine 11-1, OES 4606, Chief 11-2, and Battalion 11-1 responded and arrived on scene to find many resin-filled barrels involved that were beginning to extend to a tanker trailer and the vegetation surrounding the property. Crews successfully contained the fire to the barrels and vegetation.

Several engine companies from Stockton Firefighters Local 456, along with a water tender from Waterloo Morada Fire District, responded as mutual aid. Thank you for your assistance!

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This morning, at approximately 0601 hours, your French Camp Firefighters were requested to respond to a structure fire on S. Tracy Blvd in the unprotected area. Engine 11-1 responded and arrived on scene to report a fully-involved shop.

Despite the extended response time to the unprotected area, crews successfully contained the fire to the shop and surrounding vegetation.

Water tenders from South San Joaquin County Fire Authority - Tracy, CA and Waterloo Morada Fire District, along with Truck 16-1 from Mountain House Fire Department responded as mutual aid. Thank you for your assistance!

Update on Nut Storage Facility Fire – CA-120 and French Camp Rd.

As of this morning, the fire at the nut storage facility that started Sunday night, located near the intersection of CA-120 and French Camp Rd. remains active. Firefighting crews have been on scene for over 24 hours, continuously monitoring and adapting to the fire's progression.

The blaze has caused oil from the burning materials to spread across the property, intermittently igniting. Firefighters are diligently addressing these flare-ups as they occur. Due to the risk of the dry grass to the south catching fire, proactive measures are being taken, including the placement of sprinklers in the area.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Escalon Consolidated Fire Protection District, French Camp McKinley Fire District, and Lathrop Manteca Fire District for their invaluable assistance on the scene today. Their support has enabled us to maintain a sufficient presence of firefighters and paramedics at Station 2-1 to respond to emergency calls within the district.

Our primary objective is to bring the incident under control, ensuring the safety of the surrounding area, so that the facility's owner can begin the process of managing the aftermath and recovery.

Our new Engine 11-1 is now in service. Engine 11-1 is a 2023 Spartan MetroStar build by Hi-Tech Fire Apparatus and is equipped with 600 gallons of water, 25 gallons of class A foam, and a full complement of rescue and auto extrication equipment.

We’d like to thank and congratulate Captain Jonathan Hiriscau as he moves on to the next phase of his life out of state. Jonny started in 2015 and worked his way up the ranks to Fire Captain. He played many roles in the department, including managing the Fire Prevention Bureau, CERT/CPR instructor, President of our Firefighters Association, and Candy Connoisseur. Congratulations and good luck Jonny, you will be missed!
