Healthcare for all.

We need to triage our broken healthcare system to restore care to as many people as possible. The trillions of 'healthcare' dollars that are being siphoned off as profits by the top, as well as the waste and inefficiency of billing, pre-authorizations and denials from multiple for-profit insurers is the foundational problem and source of waste in our current system. I have a plan to do a full-gut renovation of US health care in common-sense phases to build a world-class system from the foundation up. If we don't do this right the first time, it will fail and we may not ever get another chance.
1. Restore the ACA subsidies; this is an easy step since the framework already exists.
2. Require states to expand Medicaid; again another easy step since the framework exists.
3. Make the VA the premier medical system in the world. Our veterans deserve the best healthcare, period.
4. Improve the quality of tri-care to give our military families the best healthcare available.
5. Begin improving the IHS (Indian Health Service) following the VA model. The US Government has a long history of failing to fulfill its obligations to the indigenous people and it’s time we fixed that.
6. Merge Medicaid, Medicare, and Tricare into a single system to reduce overhead and waste.
7. Expand this new single system with a public buy-in and expanded coverage for children that they can keep as they age.
8. For-profit insurance will gradually phase itself out as a single high-quality efficient option becomes the preferred choice for providers to accept and patients to choose. Displaced workers in the old for-profit system can be provided training and opportunities to find other roles in healthcare that directly help patients, rather than help deny patients care.
9. We watch as local communities and small businesses begin to thrive, wages self-correct to liveable levels, and close-to-home employment opportunities multiply as workers are no longer trapped in a few jobs in large corporations who ‘provide’ insurance. Entrepreneurs are free to start businesses and still acquire insurance for themselves and their families, and pay their employees what they are worth without funding premiums that buy yachts for corporate executives.
10. We watch crime and violence drop. Addiction and financial desperation are driven by lack of access to mental health care, crippling debt, or challenges in holding down a good job due to health issues. Available, affordable health care changes everyone’s opportunities and future for the better, making the American Dream possible.

To fully restore the faith of the American people in the US Government we need to fully restore the rule of law. The role of Congress is to investigate potential violations of the Constitution and the law. Any officials suspected of failing to fulfill their oath to uphold the constitution should be investigated and, if impeachment is warranted, it should happen swiftly. The process can’t stop until every corrupt official (no matter their political affiliation) that is under the purview of congress has been removed.

The indiscriminate cuts made by this administration through DOGE have created chaos within essential government programs. Restoring those services while ensuring the programs are running efficiently and are fairly helping all Americans is a first step to reducing the harm our communities are facing from cuts to programs and aid.

Our rural communities have been decimated by 40 years of trickle-down economics and neglect from politicians on both sides of the aisle. There is no single solution to this decades-long problem, but we can start making the change to revitalize our rural communities. Restoring governmental policies that place the emphasis on helping the working class instead of corporate welfare will allow our communities to thrive.
1. Make corporations pay wages that don’t require their employees to receive government assistance to survive
2. Single payer healthcare that allows entrepreneurs and small business owners to compete fairly for employees with the big corporations
3. Infrastructure investments that allow small business to thrive and attract larger employers to rural areas
4. Farm policy that benefits the local community not multi-national agribusinesses
5. Protect the environment to preserve nature for the next generation and the tourism so much of our region relies on
6. Affordable childcare that lets families choose how and when they join the workforce

One of the Department of Education’s most important jobs is to ensure that no child is being deprived of a quality education because of discrimination, and we need to be sure that mission is fully funded. It also needs to be ensuring schools have the resources they need to give every special needs child the education they deserve. Beyond that, the department of education needs to stop trying to enforce education standards by standardized testing requirements and instead become the leading research institution on education methods. This would allow it to provide best practices and training to school districts to implement teaching methods that are designed for that school district's needs and stop forcing one-size-fits-all (none) solutions.
