Consumers Energy to Provide Help at Seniors and Caregivers Expo in Newaygo County
Consumers Energy is serving as co-lead support for the Seniors and Caregivers Expo to host the River Country Chamber of Commerce for Newaygo County residents on Thursday, providing information and assistance for energy bills and other local services.

Representatives from the River Country Chamber of Commerce and Corewell Health
Around 400 Newaygo County residents
When: Thursday, April 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: TrueNorth Community Services, 6308 S. Warner Ave., Fremont, MI 49412
Documents Needed for On Site Assistance Enrollment:
Proof of Identity: Valid photo ID for the applicant (driver’s license or state ID)
Proof of Household Income:
• SER dated 10/01/2025 and after
• OR
• Award letters dated valid as of the event day for programs: SNAP/FAP, SSI, TANF/FIP, SDA, WIC, Medicaid, or Head Start (receipt of these benefits generally confirms income eligibility)
• AND
• Income documentation for all household members (e.g., pay stubs or benefit statements) showing income over the previous 30 days
Utility Bill(s):
• Most recent gas and/or electric bill (Must clearly display: account number, service address, balance owed, and the name on the account)
• For customers that have deliverable fuel for heat, proof of propane % or days left of wood/pellets required.

Media are invited to publicize this event in advance – registration is not necessary -- and to cover the event itself.
Consumers Energy has been reaching out to seniors after this cold winter, and team members will help participants with bills.
