Yesterday we had the privilege of celebrating the graduation of 18 incredible leaders in the Leadership Sandusky County Class of 2026. This was our first class to complete the program since SCEDC took over Leadership Sandusky County in 2025. Over the past year, this group has grown in their leadership, deepened their understanding of Sandusky County, and begun applying new skills in their day-to-day roles to better serve their organizations and our community. It has been an honor getting to know each participant and watching their journeys unfold.

We extend a sincere thank you to the employers who sponsored members of this year’s class and made their participation possible: Croghan Colonial Bank, Great Lakes Community Action Partnership, Whirlpool Corporation, Mosser Construction, Sandusky County Board of Developmental Disabilities, First National Bank of Bellevue, Terra State Community College, Kuns Northcoast Security, Sandco Industries, ProMedica Memorial Hospital, Martin Marietta, and others who supported this cohort along the way. Your investment in leadership development is an investment in Sandusky County’s future.

Congratulations to the Leadership Sandusky County Class of 2026! We’re excited to see how you continue to lead and make an impact in the years ahead. Applications for the Class of 2027 will be opening soon, so stay tuned!

We had the chance to participate in a really special ribbon cutting today thanks to Kyleigh from the Sandusky County Economic Development Corporation. ✂️

Mr. Druckenmiller’s 4th grade class at Atkinson Elementary School wrapped up their REACH program by presenting their “Project Wins” for Fremont - and we got to celebrate it with an official ribbon cutting!

Today, students worked through hands-on stations focused on business attraction, site selection, and workforce development with support from SCEDC, Downtown Fremont Inc., and The City of Fremont Ohio - getting a real look at how our community grows.

Pretty cool to see the ideas they came up with and the way they’re already thinking about Fremont’s future.

On April 30, SCEDC hosted the Annual High School Job Fair at Vanguard-Sentinel Career and Technology Centers, connecting 22 local employers with more than 250 students. Students practiced networking, handed out resumes, and explored career opportunities right here in Sandusky County.

A big thank you to the participating employers for their support that helps students see the strong demand for local talent and the many career paths available after graduation.

Since January, Kyleigh has been working with Mr. Druckenmiller's 5th grade class at Atkinson Elementary through the REACH Program. REACH is a workforce development program facilitated by Terra State Community College.

This program introduces elementary students to the "world of work" while building essential soft skills that help them become not just great future employees, but outstanding community members!
Throughout the program, students explore:
âś… Their natural talents and interests
âś… Communication and teamwork skills
âś… Professional habits and workplace readiness
âś… How to find careers they're passionate about

Kyleigh has truly enjoyed her experience getting to know each student, and had the honor of presenting certificates to all the students for completing the program.

Next week, they are going to learn first-hand all about economic development right here in Sandusky Cunty and learn about SCEDC's daily impact on our community!
