πŸ… This morning during our agency closure, we gathered to celebrate the people who make this work possible β€” and what a celebration it was! We were also joined by all 3 Sandusky County Commissioners to celebrate our staff milestones.

In the spirit of the Summer Olympics, we honored staff milestones ranging from 1 year of service all the way to an incredible 35 years! Each honoree received a personalized recognition title, because great work deserves more than a certificate.

Congratulations to our milestone honorees:
πŸ₯‡ 1 Year: Taylor H., Morgan L., Kelsey P., Bethany B., Tori B., Melissa M., Nicole C., Meredith D. & Rhiannon S.

πŸ₯‡ 5 Years: Casey N. & Robbin D.

πŸ₯‡ 10 Years: Kristi M.

πŸ₯‡ 20 Years: Jill W. & Davi A.

πŸ₯‡ 25 Years: Lisa M.

πŸ₯‡ 35 Years: Jackie M.

Government social services isn't glamorous work, and it doesn't always get the recognition it deserves from the outside β€” but the families we serve are better off because these individuals chose public service when they could have chosen something easier. That is what makes a champion.

Thank you to every single one of our staff members who shows up, gives their best, and makes this agency a gold standard across the state. Proud of this team, today and every day. Director Mel πŸ’›

🌟 Celebrating Two Incredible Careers 🌟

After A COMBINED 56 YEARS of service and showing up for the most vulnerable members of our community, Gabby and Jackie are hanging up their caseworker hats β€” and they are leaving behind a legacy that words can barely capture.

Gabby has been nothing short of a cornerstone of this agency. From child welfare to adult protective services, she has walked alongside families, children, and elderly individuals during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. She built bridges with attorneys, law enforcement, foster parents, CASA volunteers, and countless community partners β€” always with one goal in mind: the safety and well-being of those who needed someone in their corner. Nearly three decades of court dates, home visits, hard phone calls, and harder decisions. She took it all on with grace.

Jackie poured her career into ensuring that children in our community had safe, loving, licensed homes to land in. Her work in foster home licensing meant that families were ready to open their doors. And when cases called for it, she rolled up her sleeves for ongoing family work too. The homes she approved, the families she supported, the children she helped stabilize β€” that ripple effect will be felt for generations.

Together, these two have seen policy changes, leadership changes, a pandemic, and everything in between. They have carried the weight of this work without complaint and with more dedication than most people will ever fully understand.

Child welfare is not easy. It never has been. And yet β€” for 3 decades and all these years β€” they chose it, every single day.

We are so grateful. We are so proud. And we are so happy that Gabby and Jackie finally get to put down the deadlines, step away from the chaos, and just breathe. You have both more than earned it. πŸ’™

**This April, we wore blue and planted 892 pinwheels.**

Each one represents a child who was the subject of a child abuse investigation in Sandusky County during 2025. 892 children. 892 reasons to keep showing up.

Child Abuse Prevention Month is a time to reflect, raise awareness, and renew our commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community. The pinwheel is the national symbol of child abuse prevention β€” a reminder that every child deserves a bright, joyful future.
