One of the biggest breakthroughs Betsy is experiencing with Blue isn’t just the saddle itself…

It’s the conversation happening underneath the saddle.

This week in The Mustang Project, Blue experienced the saddle for the very first time. But what made this moment so powerful wasn’t forcing the process… it was the reciprocal conversation taking place between horse and human.

As Betsy watched Blue’s mental and physical body language, she could see his autonomic system responding to the new stimulus of the saddle. Instead of simply pushing through the moment, she began adjusting herself — her timing, pressure, energy, and awareness — giving Blue the opportunity to regulate, think, and reconnect.

And in return…

Blue began watching Betsy for guidance, safety, and reassurance.

That’s the power of reciprocal communication.

Not one-way communication.
Not domination.
Not just “getting the saddle on.”

But two nervous systems learning how to communicate together.

For true learning to happen, three things must be present:
• Social engagement
• A reciprocal conversation
• Internal (mental) safety

When those three things come together… amazing transformations begin to happen.

You can literally watch the horse’s autonomic system shift from caution and survival… into curiosity, connection, and regulation.

And that’s exactly what Betsy and Blue are building together.

I love helping humans and horses find safety and connection through science.

Over the years, I’ve watched what becomes possible when we truly begin to understand the mind of a horse—when we replace force with feel, and fear with safety. It changes everything… for both horse and human.
I’ve been out on the road, traveling to different locations for 5 weeks teaching seminars, workshops, private lessons, and clinics—sharing this science-based approach that honors the horse.

And now, we’re bringing something really special to you.

We’re hosting a live online clinic where you can witness a Mustang being started for the very first time. This is real, raw, and unfolding in the moment—no shortcuts, no pressure, just honest communication and connection.

Join us on Tuesdays at 4 PM Mountain Time as we follow the journey of Betsy and Blue, her beautiful Devil’s Garden Mustang.

For just $25, you can be part of this experience, learning alongside us.

We would truly love to have you with us.

Hope to see you on the call today 🤍
