May was packed full with student trips at Kropscott Farm Environmental Center, owned and operated by Newaygo Conservation District. Here's a little sneak peek of the fun we had with honey at the Apiary with 110+ kindergarteners! Huge thank you to the bee club for some impromptu education & Great Lakes Bee Company for supplying some local honey and comb for the tasting + viewing!

On Wednesday, May 13, a group of NMS 6th-8th grade science students visited and enjoyed a wagon ride; learned about the unique features and species of a vernal pool with a hike along our ADA trail; dissected owl pellets and viewed a variety of specimens under microscopes; learned about the survival strategies of birds and engaged in a Bird Survivor game; and completed water quality tests at our forest stream.

THANK YOU for showing up every year, and spreading the message of planting native plants! Our 2026 Native Plant Sale sold 45 more flats than it has ever sold in the past. We can only imagine what 2027 will bring!

This year, we sold out in 3 hours & raised just over $6,000 💵✨. Your generous support allows Newaygo Conservation District to reinvest into our county as your primary contact for natural resource information, support, and leadership.

MAY is student trip season at Kropscott Farm Environmental Center. Every year, we book out 6 months in advance for October and May openings. HUGE thank you to the community for making this the most successful May we've every experienced!

We're over here having a blast with the students in Hesperia’s Project Focus after school program!

🐸In these photos, students arrived to KFEC’s ADA trail via wagon ride to learn and explore more about vernal pools. They had the opportunity to do some guided dipping and viewing of aquatic species in simulated pools and under microscopes.
