We would like to remind residents that ALL fireworks are banned in the City of Fremont. Fremont’s public safety departments would like to remind Fremont residents, businesses, and visitors that the sale, possession, and use of all fireworks are banned within the city of Fremont. This ban includes the “safe and sane” variety of fireworks that are legal in some other cities. The ban, in effect since December 1986, has helped reduce the number of injuries, wildland fires, and structure fires caused by fireworks in the City of Fremont.

Fire and Police resources will be on patrol in Fremont during the peak times of concern to maintain an active vigilance against wildland fires along our hillside and fireworks use. In California, possession of illegal fireworks is considered a misdemeanor, which is punishable by a fine, or by imprisonment in a county jail for up to one year. If you are found to be in possession of a sufficient amount of illegal fireworks, you may be guilty of a felony and punished by a fine and/or imprisonment in a state prison or county jail. Penalties for the possession and/or use of illegal fireworks range from $1,000 to $50,000. Parents may be held liable for any damages or injuries caused by their children’s use of illegal fireworks.

Fremont Police and Fire are anticipating a high call volume during the Fourth of July holiday season. We ask that community members help do their part to keep our city safe and only dial 9-1-1 during a true or potential emergency. To report non-emergency illegal firework use, call the Fremont Police Department Dispatch Center at 510-790-6800 x3. Please be prepared to provide dispatchers with details, such as the specific location, description of involved persons, and any immediate danger to areas with dry brush and vegetation susceptible to fire. All firework calls will be prioritized with other pending calls for service.

From 4:00 p.m. on July 4 to 2:00 a.m. on July 5, community members are encouraged to report illegal firework activities via the Fremont App. Additional police resources will be monitoring and relaying information to field personnel. Complaints with specific details such as an address, and description of those involved will receive higher priority. For details on how to download the app, please visit: fremontpolice.gov/fireworks

Please be very alert during the Fourth of July holiday season and throughout the summer months with all outdoor activities, and when in or around dry vegetation. The combination of dry grass, low relative humidity, warm temperatures, and strong winds can quickly contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Have a Happy and Safe 4th of July!

Road Closure Planned for 4th of July Parade on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

The Fremont 4th of July Parade will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Downtown Fremont.

Fremont Police Department asks attendees to please refrain from bringing backpacks and large bags into the parade area. All bags are subject to search. In addition, UAVs (drones) will not be permitted to fly over the parade route or within the event venue. Only official parade participants with credentials will be allowed to enter the staging area and parade route.

Please plan ahead—several major roadways will be closed during the parade. All road closures will begin on July 4 from approximately 6:00 a.m. and roads are expected to reopen by 2:00 p.m. Please expect heavy traffic and delays in the area for the duration of the event.

Road closures are as follows:
• Paseo Padre Parkway (both directions full closure between Mowry Avenue and Stevenson Boulevard)
• Capitol Avenue (between State Street and Paseo Padre Parkway)
• Hastings Street (between Capitol Avenue and Mowry Avenue)
• Walnut Avenue (between Liberty Street and Civic Center Drive)
• Liberty Street (between Beacon Avenue and Capitol Avenue)
• Stevenson Blvd. (between Civic Center Drive and Paseo Padre Pkwy.)
Please note there is no public parking at the Fremont Main Library parking lot. The location will be used as a staging area for parade floats.

For event information, public parking, and parade route, please visit: https://fremont4th.org/

As we celebrate this 4th of July season, please remember all fireworks are banned in the City of Fremont. Visit our website on how to report illegal fireworks: https://www.fremontpolice.gov/fireworks.

During all events, always be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious activities. We ask: If You See Something, Say Something. If you see suspicious behavior or situations, do not confront the individuals involved. In a non-emergency, call Fremont Police Department at (510) 790-6800 option 3 or TEXT-A-TIP: text “TIP FREMONTPD” followed by your message to 888-777. In an emergency or to report a crime in progress, please dial 9-1-1.

The City is in the planning stage of the Fremont-Decoto Land Development Plan. This effort implements the City’s 2023–2031 Housing Element and requires the redevelopment of the City-owned site at 4178–4268 Decoto Road into a residential development that includes affordable housing.

This planning stage includes opportunities for community outreach and engagement:
✅ An informational community meeting was held on May 27 and another meeting is planned for this fall. Details will be available later this summer.
✅ A brief online survey is now available for the community to easily share their feedback on the project.

Fremont businesses: Your electricity service switches to 100% renewable energy in August!
Fremont is taking a major step toward our Climate Action Plan goals by making Renewable 100 the default electricity generation service plan for all customers of Ava Community Energy. Ava is a local, not-for-profit public agency that has served Fremont residents and businesses since 2018. Ava generates electricity, and PG&E delivers it.

The current default electricity service plan for commercial customers is Ava’s Bright Choice plan, offering over 60% renewable energy at lower rates than PG&E. Ava’s Renewable 100 plan will supply 100% renewable energy at a small premium (1¾ cents per kWh above PG&E rates). For an average small business in Fremont, the change to Renewable 100 will cost about $25-$30 more per month for electricity generation.

With this transition, Fremont businesses will continue to have the same choices for electricity generation service: Renewable 100, Bright Choice (priced 0.5% below PG&E rates), or PG&E generation. No action is needed to transition to Renewable 100. If a business does not want to transition to Renewable 100, they can remain on Bright Choice or choose PG&E generation. To choose their plan, businesses can visit AvaEnergy.org/Fremont or call Ava’s customer support team at 833-699-3223 (weekdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Businesses should choose their plan by July 23 if they do not want to transition to Renewable 100.

Informational Webinar
On Wednesday, July 8 at 12 p.m., Ava will be hosting a webinar for Fremont business owners and operators with commercial electricity accounts. Ava will walk through what the transition to Renewable 100 means for businesses, including what's changing, what it costs, and what to do to stay on their current plan. Ava will cover options and key deadlines and answer any questions. Registration is available at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_aiRt-BbHQX68rWrt7M_ftg #/.
