Last night member's fine tuned their extrication skills and stepped out of their comfort zones learning new skills.

Member's were able to perform door removals, roof removal and dash rolls fine tuning the skills needed to remove victims that become trapped in their vehicles following accidents when needed.

Vehicles were stagged to also hone their skills in cribbing and stabilization of vehicle's in precarious positions using the the new Halmato V2 struts discussed in a previous post.

A big thank you goes out to Jerry's Towing and Recovery for the donation the vehicle's so member's can stay proficient in their skills.

STREET MILL & RESURFACE PROJECT!

Tomorrow, August 18th, Hillcrest Avenue from E Cherry Street north to Vista Lane will be milled and resurfaced. The road will still be passable but expect delays and a flag crew directing traffic.

📢 EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION TEST — TOMORROW, TUESDAY, AUGUST 18 AT APPROXIMATELY 9:30 AM

Tomorrow morning at approximately 9:30 AM, Newaygo County Emergency Services and Consumers Energy will test the emergency public warning sirens near the Rogers, Hardy and Croton hydroelectric plants on the Muskegon River. A Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) test will be sent at about the same time.

⚠️ THIS IS ONLY A TEST. NO ACTION IS NEEDED.

WHAT YOU WILL HEAR
The siren test includes a voice message, a 30-second siren, and a second voice message.

WHAT YOU MAY SEE
Phones with state and local test alerts turned on will receive a test message, along with a loud tone and vibration. The message will identify itself as a test.

To turn test alerts on before tomorrow:
- Apple: Settings > Notifications > Government Alerts > Test Alerts
- Android: Settings > Safety and Emergency > Wireless Emergency Alerts > State and local tests

DURING THE TEST
- You do not need to take any action.
- Please do NOT call 9-1-1 about the sirens or the alert. Call 9-1-1 only to report an actual emergency.
- Follow all road closures in the immediate area.

WHY WE TEST
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission requires hydroelectric facilities to be able to quickly notify residents and visitors of any developing emergency at the plants. The sirens are tested every August and December. Outside of a test, the sirens are used only if the threat of a dam failure is imminent.

After several month of waiting we have received the last of our equipment order using the Spanky's Pizza Firefighter fund raiser night funds. We were able to order 3 Seek Thermal imager which were first to arrive and have been in service for some time.

Just recently we receive Holmatro V Struts which are in service and will be utilized when vehicle or equitment stabilization is needed for pt rescue following a accident or mishap.

Again a huge thank you to the community, donors and sponsors who contributed to our ability to have up to date equitment to best serve our community.

Come see us from 10-2 today for kids day. We have trucks to climb through, fire hose to spray and activities books for the kiddos.

This evening at our membership meeting we recognized EMT Felicia Szendre on her promotion to Rescue Squad. Felicia joined us several months ago having her EMT license already. She completed our in-house training over these months and we welcome her to the Rescue Squad. Her family was here to pin her badge and collar brass for us. Congratulations Felicia.
We also had a special recognition for 3 members who recently assisted with delivery of a baby. Deputy Chief Phil Smalligan, Captain Anthony Pantaleo, and FF/MFR Maggie Payne all played a vital role in assisting with the delivery and care of mom and baby. A healthy baby girl was delivered and Life EMS transported both to the hospital afterwards for further care. Both are reported healthy and doing very well congratulations to everyone.

This evening members of the Boike family paid us a visit along with the Fremont Community Foundation. They have set up the Bill and Kay Boike Memorial Fund with the foundation. The Boike family has always been great supporters of the fire department and family members serving with the department for many years. This fund has been set up to support future equipment purchases as our needs arise. Please see the attached picture for additional information or scan the QR code for a link to donate to this fund. The Fremont fire Department would like to thank the Boike family for this tremendous and gracious gift to our department for years to come. Last night member got to train under live fire conditions. Member's reviewed ventilation, flow paths and thermal layering.

Member were also able to review and get more hands on training with the Seek Thermal Imaging cameras that were purchased with the donations and funds raised during our annual Spanky's Pizza firefighter night.

The dept was able to purchase 3 cameras. 1 Seek Attack Pro and 2 Seek Fire Pro 300 thermal imaging cameras to help firefighters better locate hidden fire and locate victims during search and rescue operations.

A huge thank you goes to everyone that sponsored or donated and attended the Spank's Pizza night.
