Springtime Reminders

With the start of spring right around the corner, we want to remind you of a few City ordinances and tips that are more applicable this time of year.

Golf Cart Traffic/ Underage Golf Cart Drivers. There will be additional traffic on our streets now that spring is almost here and school is soon to be out, many of us traveling by golf cart. Drivers of golf carts must have a valid Missouri drivers’ license—most important, this can be a safety issue if underage, inexperienced drivers are allowed to operate golf carts. Tickets can be issued for this violation. Also, a safety tip would be to make sure your golf cart is equipped with reflectors, headlights, and a rear view mirror.

Pedestrians. Many residents walk or ride bikes during various times of the day—please keep a watchful eye out for them. A safety tip to walkers—you should always walk facing traffic, not with your back to traffic. Cyclists should always ride with the flow of traffic. Also, please be sure to wear reflective clothing or have something reflective on your bike if you are out after dusk or before daylight. We still have construction in the City and many young people riding bikes/ scooters/ skateboards--parents, be sure your child/children are being safe while on the street.

Pets. Pets must remain on the owner's property and not allowed to "run at large." No person owning or responsible for an animal shall permit the animal to defecate on any public property or right of way or upon any private property not owned by the person owning or responsible for the animal. The owner or responsible party of the animal shall be responsible for the removal of any waste.

Irrigation Systems. Backflow testing should be completed by the first of June if you have an irrigation system. The testing service provider sends a copy of the report to Ozark Water--if Ozark doesn't get a report for you, you will receive a letter requesting one be completed.

Vacation. When planning your vacation, make certain someone is picking up your mail and newspaper (or have them put on hold). Make sure your home is secured and gives the appearance that you are home—let a neighbor know when you are leaving/ returning and how they can reach you.

Golf Course Property. The golf course is private property—please see the following message from Dustin Newman, Fremont Hills Country Club General Manager:

"As we head into the spring, the golf course activity is getting busier. To help ensure everyone stays safe, we have the following reminders:

The golf course is for golfers only. Please do not walk, jog, ride bikes or scooters, walk dogs, etc., on the course (even before or after course hours).
When driving your golf cart in the city, please do not drive your golf cart on the course. The pickleball courts are for members of Fremont Hills Country Club and their guests."

Have a safe and fun spring!
