VOICES of Stephenson County

VOICES of Stephenson County VOICES of Stephenson County is a not-for-profit, inclusive organization.

The organization welcomes all victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. VOICES began as a YWCA (Young Women Christian Association) in 1917 in Freeport, Illinois. In 1982, the YWCA established the VOICES program out of the organization’s desire to eliminate domestic violence in Stephenson County. In October 2005, the VOICES program incorporated as a separate not-for-profit organi

zation under the name of VOICES DV. The VOICES Book Nook, a used bookstore located in the Lincoln Mall, was launched in 2010 to help support the agency’s operations and direct services. In July 2014, with the closing of Assault & Abuse Services of Stephenson County, VOICES DV began offering advocacy and therapy services to victims of sexual assault and abuse in Stephenson County as well as prevention education for students. Today the organization provides a wide variety of coordinated services to over 400 adults and children in Stephenson County.

Volunteers needed! We are looking for Volunteers to work in "Gabby's Closet," Which houses clothing our survivors need, from newborn to adult.

Flexible schedule.

Tasks include:
- Inventory of items
- Hanging clothes on hangers
- Restocking racks with donations
- Organizing the closet

Volunteers must pass a background check and complete fingerprinting.

Can you believe the VOICES Fall Mum Sale is only a day away? Make sure you are making a list and checking it twice to ensure you buy all the color combinations you want to create the perfect fall look. You can choose between white, purple, orange, red and yellow mums for $13 each.

Have you decided when you are going to the VOICES Fall Mum Sale? It's only two days away and we cannot wait to see you there. Here's a few tips:
-- Arrive early for the best selection, but don't worry if you can't make it on the first day. There's plenty to go around. There should be enough for the second day. Try to come early on the third day.
-- We have volunteers to assist you with loading mums into your wagons and taking them to your vehicle.
-- The cost is $13 each and we accept cash, check, and credit or debit cards.
-- We are in the first storefront to your right as you enter Lincoln Mall.
-- Buying mums from VOICES is a beautiful way to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

The VOICES Fall Mum Sale is just four days away -- opening on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Not only will you be able to buy beautiful mums for $13 each, you also will get a special mums and music treat from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday as Ukulele Express will be playing during the sale. Come out and enjoy the tunes as you shop!

It's only six more days until the VOICES Fall Mum Sale at Lincoln Mall in Freeport. You can expect to find mums like these getting ready to burst into full bloom. (And, yes, these photos were taken at last year's sale!) You will find white, purple, yellow, red and orange mums for just $13 each.

The sale is open from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 9, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.Sept. 10 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 11. We accept, cash, checks, and credit and debit cards.
