On September 11, 2026, members of the Freehold Township Independent Fire Company gathered alongside the Freehold Township Committee, residents, Freehold Township Police Department Officers, and Freehold Emergency Medical Services members to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

May we never forget the lives that were lost, the families forever changed, and the courage displayed by so many in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

Congratulations to Commissioner / Firefighter AJ Story on being recognized as a LD11 Hometown Hero!

Our next Hometown Hero, AJ Story serves Freehold Township as a volunteer firefighter and a 911 dispatcher. This evening, our Engine is providing a regional coverage assignment with the Lincroft Fire Company as Holmdel Fire & Rescue Company #2 and other companies operate at a 2nd Alarm structure fire in Holmdel Township.

On Thursday, August 27th, our Firefighters conducted hands-on training focused on search fundamentals, firefighter packaging, firefighter rescue operations, and downed firefighter CPR.

Continued training ensures our Firefighters are prepared to operate safely and effectively when called upon.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Morganville Fire Department and Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Company #1 - Station 51 for providing station coverage for our district while our members attended the viewing for the brother of one of our members, who passed away unexpectedly in a tragic accident.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with our member and his entire family during this incredibly difficult time.

7/31/2026 Box 1621: Our Tower and Rescue responded to East Freehold for a three-alarm warehouse fire at Freehold Cartage Inc. Our companies operated for over 12 hours at this incident. We are honored to work with our mutual aid partners.

7/31/2026 Box 1630: Our Engine, Tower, and Fire Chiefs responded to an automated fire alarm. Upon arrival, the Fire Chief upgraded the assignment to a box alarm requesting mutual aid. Crews quickly went to work alongside our mutual aid partners to extinguish the fire, conduct searches, and remove one dog from the residence.

Today, our Engine Tender and Fire Chief responded to Upper Freehold for a structure fire. Upon arrival, the apparatus crew assisted with fire suppression operations while the Engine Tender continued making water supply runs.

We’re proud of our volunteers for their hard work and commitment to assisting our mutual aid fire companies when needed.

Earlier today, our Engine, Rescue, and First Assistant Chief responded to a reported van fire near the Radisson Hotel. Upon arrival, firefighters quickly deployed a handline and extinguished the fire.

Today marked Firefighter Steffens’ and Firefighter Vota’s first fire since graduating from the Monmouth County Fire Academy this spring and summer, respectively. Congratulations to both on this important milestone in their fire service careers.

Yesterday, our Engine, Tender, Chief, and First Assistant Chief responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a vehicle into a building. Upon arrival, the Chief requested the Asbury Park Technical Rescue Team to assist with evaluating and stabilizing the structure due to the extent of the damage. As a precaution, the Chief also requested the Monmouth County HazMat Team to evaluate potential hazards resulting from the impact.
