There has been a few questions concerning pick up days and what is required. Below are the routes and regualtions:

Monday- City Business Hoppers
Tuesday- 20th st to 8th st.
Wednesday- 8th st. to South Mound Rd
Thursday- All of South Side
Friday- City Business Hoppers

*New Residents-Please purchase trash receptacles that are no larger than 35gal. Please be sure they have lids. NO METAL DRUMS FOR TRASH.
*Please have all trash at the pickup location by 7:00 AM on your pickup day.
* We ask that new receptacles have a few small holes drilled into the bottoms for water drainage so the crew can move the receptacle without strain.
* If your trash is not out by the time the Crew reaches your residence, we will NOT go back to get it.
* If you have alley access, please be sure the trash is at the alley. If it is anywhere else on the property, the Crew will NOT go onto Private Property to gather your trash.
* If you do not have alley access, please place your trash at the end of the driveway. If it is anywhere else the City Crew will NOT go onto Private Property to gather your trash.
* ALL TRASH MUST BE IN BAGS
Loose trash will not be taken. If you have animals in your area that get into the trash, we ask you keep the lid shut and be sure everything is bagged. The City Crew will not pick up trash throughout your yard if animals have gotten into the trash. If you have loose trash and it has blown throughout your yard due to storms or high winds the City Crew will not be responsible for the cleanup of the loose trash. If you know you have animal issues place the trash out closer to the pickup time of 7:00 AM. Thank you and we look forward to serving you.

As Clean Up Week is in full swing and will continue into next week, I would like to share a few updated details that are important for our progress:

1. We are currently down a dump truck, which has put us a day behind schedule. Thank you for your patience as we hope to have it operational by tomorrow.

2. Please refrain from mixing materials, such as wood & metal or tree limbs & building materials. This separation is crucial as these mixed materials need to be sorted before disposal at the landfill, which hinders our overall response time and ability to continue with the clean up.

3. There's been an overabundance of construction materials being disposed of. If we could limit these, it would be greatly appreciated and help streamline our efforts.

Thank you for your cooperation and support during this process. Let’s work together to make this clean-up a success!

🌻🌺🌸 Spring Clean-Up | April 6 - April 10🌸🌺🌻

The City of Fredonia Spring Clean-Up Week allows residents to set out items not routinely collected by weekly solid waste collection. During this time, residents are encouraged to clean up yards, garages, basements, etc. and get rid of any unused/nuisance items. These items can then be sorted and placed at your normal trash collection location for FREE pick up.

Approved Items
• Appliances
• Furniture
• Scrap Metal
• Yard Debris
• Trash

Prohibited Items
• Tires - can be disposed of at Wilson County Landfill (fees apply)
• Vehicles - for additional fees, can be hauled off by Kevin Starbuck (620) 378-3710 (proof of ownership required)
• Used Oil
• Railroad Ties
• E-waste (electronic devices such as TVs and computers)

Items must be placed at alley or curb by 7:00 AM on your normal trash pickup day. Do not block meters, fire hydrants, traffic lanes, alleys, or sidewalks with debris.

Sort all like items together:
• Brush/yard debris
• Building material
• Metal
• Regular household trash

Items will not be picked up if not sorted!

Dumpsters and dump trucks are available to residents, free of charge, for use during clean-up week. Dumpsters can be used for excess trash and household items and dump trucks are for large amounts of brush/yard debris or construction materials. Dump trucks may not be used for mixed materials. If you would like to request one, you can contact City Shop at (620) 378-3161 ext. 401.

If you need something larger, a roll-off dumpster may be ordered for additional fees. Contact Kevin Starbuck at (620) 378-3710 or Green Environmental at (800) 870-5393.

Residents should be aware that the items are collected in phases, some by multiple crews, therefore it may take several days for all your items to be collected.

❗Fuel Adjustment Charge for March Utility Bills❗

The City of Fredonia is advising utility customers that their March billing statements, based on January's usage, will reflect a higher than normal Fuel Adjustment Charge. The higher Fuel Adjustment Charge is a direct result of energy market volatility within the Southwest Power Pool during the severe winter weather event that occurred in late January.

The Fuel Adjustment Charge is a standard line item on utility bills that fluctuates based on the actual cost of the fuel and purchased power needed to provide electricity to our customers. The winter storm which impacted the Midwest in late January caused the price of wholesale electricity within the Southwest Power Pool to rise significantly above average.

Most utility customers will not experience a drastic increase in the total dollar amount due from their February billing statement. The highest increases across all utility accounts are between 5% and 10% from the amount due in February to the amount due in March.

March utility bills were emailed to customers yesterday and paper copies will be mailed out to customers this morning. Please contact City Hall at (620) 378-2231 if you have any questions related to your utility bill.

Since mid-morning we have received several reports of water leaks. Our crews are currently out working to resolve these issues.

As the temperatures begin to increase, it's not uncommon for water lines to break due to rapid shifts between freezing and thawing. Please remain vigilant and report any further leaks you notice.

Hello on this muddy Monday!

Utility bills were sent out on Friday, January 31, 2026. If you do not receive your bill this week, please call us at 620.378.2231 to check your balance.

In the event you perceive your bill is higher than usual, here are a few things to consider:
1) **Water**: There may be a leak. Just because you do not see water on the ground or wet place doesn’t mean it’s not there. Additionally, check if your toilet is running.
2) **Electric**: Are you using space heaters? They consume a significant amount of electricity, which can quickly increase your energy bill.
3) **Your bill**: Remember the bill covers your usage for the previous month.

As a reminder, bills are due on the 10th of each month.

For your convenience, you can pay your utility bill online at the following link:
