Fredericktown Officer has handled 8 weather related calls since 2 PM today as well as assisting the Knox County Sheriff deputies with 4 weather related calls and 1 non weather call. For the entire county, we have averaged 43 calls an hour since 2 PM today. If travel is absolutely necessary, please take your time watching for trees in the road and/or power/cable lines hanging low or laying in the road. Also, give Law Enforcement, Fire/EMS, utility and clean up crews room to work while we try to get everything back to the way it needs to be.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Knox County Weather Alert

High winds moving through the Knox County area have caused power outages, downed trees, and low hanging or fallen utility wires across several roadways and neighborhoods.

Residents are urged to use extreme caution while traveling. Debris, tree limbs, and damaged utility lines may be difficult to see—especially during early morning or evening hours.

⚠️ Important Safety Reminders:
• Do NOT approach or touch any downed or low hanging wires. Assume all wires are live and dangerous.
• Report downed lines immediately to your utility provider or local emergency services.
• Allow extra time for travel and watch for road crews, utility workers, and first responders clearing hazards.
• If you encounter a blocked roadway, turn around—do not attempt to drive over debris or wires.

Local crews are actively working to restore power, clear fallen trees, and make roadways safe. We will continue to provide updates as conditions change.

Please stay alert, stay safe, and avoid unnecessary travel until the severe weather has passed.
