It’s EMS Week!!! 🚑🚑🚑🚑

Once a year (May 17–23), we get a whole week to shine a light on the people who show up for Madison County on some of the hardest days anyone can imagine. The theme this year is "Improving Outcomes, Together" which fits perfectly, because nothing in EMS happens alone.

Behind every siren is a crew missing birthdays, skipping meals, or surviving on questionable gas station snacks. They show up for long nights, tough calls, and the quiet moments that matter deeply to the people they help. They show up for this community with consistency and heart, giving the best care they can with whatever the day brings.

Steady assessments, careful decisions, and teamwork keep a patient safe from the moment care begins. Whether it’s a critical emergency, a reassuring voice, or simply being there during someone’s worst moment, our crews step into situations most people never see. And with all of that comes the emotional weight of the job.

Bad calls happen, and some stay with you long after the shift ends. The crews have to take a moment to steady themselves, take a breath, and then go right back into service for the next person who needs them. All the while, they’re quietly replaying split second choices in their minds, wondering if they did everything they could. And unlike a lot of jobs, they can’t go home and talk through the details or vent about their day ... they carry that weight privately, with a quiet strength most people will never fully understand.

But then there are the good moments — the ones that make every hard shift worth it. The times a patient walks back through the station doors after one of the worst days of their life just to say thank you… to tell a paramedic or EMT that they saved their life. Those moments stay with you too, in the best way.

So whether it’s mastering new equipment, refining assessment skills, or mentoring the next generation, your commitment to growth directly improves patient care in Madison County.

To every EMT and paramedic who makes this work possible ..... a BIG thank you. We’re proud of YOU, we’re grateful for YOU, and we celebrate YOU this EMS Week — and every week.

Even though Mother’s Day has passed, we still want to take a moment to recognize the incredible mothers who serve our community here at Madison County Ambulance District.

These women balance long shifts, tough calls, and the challenges of emergency responses all while being the steady, loving, and irreplaceable moms their families depend on.
Their strength, compassion, and dedication make a difference every single day.

And a special thank you to the three moms in this photo (Felicia, Destiny & Angel) who spent their Mother’s Day on duty, continuing to serve our county even on a day meant to celebrate them.

To all the moms in our EMS family, and to every mother in our community WE thank you for everything you do. 💗🚑

🚨 Tornado Siren Test Today at 11:00 AM 🚨

Madison County residents, this is a reminder that the outdoor warning sirens will be tested today at 11:00 AM.

This is only a test — there is no emergency. The purpose is to ensure the system is working properly and ready when it’s needed most.

👉 If you hear the sirens at that time, there is no need to take action.

⚠️ Important Reminder: Outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people who are outside. Always have multiple ways to receive warnings, including weather apps, NOAA weather radios, and local alerts.

If there is severe weather in the area at the time of the test, it will be postponed.

Stay safe and stay prepared, Madison County! 🌪️

Imagine calling 911 during your worst moment. That first voice on the other end is a Madison County dispatcher.

They are the lifeline, gathering critical information and keeping callers informed until responders arrive. They may work behind the scenes, and you may never see their face, but they are with you from the first ring to the final second of the emergency.

These dedicated individuals handle the unimaginable with steady composure, providing stability when it’s needed most.

As we celebrate National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we want to express our deepest gratitude to our dispatchers. You are the heartbeat of our emergency service and we appreciate everything you do!

Thank you for always being the voice on the radio keeping us safe!!
