A big thank you goes to Marsha Rinehart for, not only purchasing a plate at the fundraising auction for the Fredericktown Tomato Show, but for generously donating the plate to the Village. The plate will be displayed at the Fredericktown Municipal Building with plates from previous years for the entire community to enjoy.

The retaining wall restoration project is off to a great start. The two-man crew is currently removing dilapidated concrete from the wall, but the majority of the wall is still structurally sound. Once the dilapidated concrete is removed, metal reinforcement material will be installed and fresh concrete poured. Once completed, the wall should be structurally sound for the next 75 years, or so, according to a local civil engineer. Thank you to local motorist and pedestrians for their ongoing patience and cooperation during this much-needed construction project.

Thank you for another outstanding summer at the splash pad at Kokosing Park. The splash pad is closed for the season and we plan to open once again on Memorial Day weekend next spring.

The Fredericktown Community has done a great job of not only utilizing the park, but also in keeping the park beautiful while enjoying it. A huge thank you also goes to Gail Ridenour for her commitment to maintaining the splash pad on weekends and holidays throughout the summer.  Let’s all do it again next year!

North Main St. is currently closed in front of the old feed mill, between Tuttle Avenue and Mill/High Street, in Fredericktown. This road closure will likely last through the month of September as a contractor rehabs the old concrete retaining wall between the mill and the old foundry.  Please use an alternate route in the meantime. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The Village Of Fredericktown is currently selling scrap, obsolete, nonfunctional fire hydrants online at www.govdeals.com. These hydrants will be auctioned online until Saturday, September 5, at 6 PM.  To view and/or bid on these hydrants, please visit the website and enter Fredericktown and the GovDeals search engine. These hydrants are being sold as-is with no returns or refunds.

Due to the asphalt plant unexpectedly shutting down this afternoon, Kokosing Construction anticipates finishing paving Taylor St., E. College St., and W. 1st St. Thursday. They had planned on finishing these streets today until the plant shut down. Thank you to residents and motorist for their ongoing patients.

Mayor and Village Council are pleased to announce that we received word today from the the Ohio Department of Transportation that the Village will be receiving a $552K grant for its Columbus Road Streetscape Project. This project will span from S. Main St. to Mohican Drive, and will connect the S. Main Streetscape Project to the relatively new sidewalk that runs from Mohican Drive to Elizabeth Street, on Columbus Road. Village Council‘s goal is to continue connecting the entire community through newly constructed ADA compliant sidewalks. This will ensure safer pedestrian travel for students and adults alike to and from Fredericktown Local Schools. This project will likely be completed in 2029 or 2030, as determined by ODOT. Village Council will continue to aggressively seek funding for much needed projects to further enhance the quality of life in the Fredericktown Community.

The legislation is on file in the Fredericktown Municipal Building, 2 E. Sandusky St., Fredericktown, Ohio for public inspection.
