Fredericktown Elementary School

Fredericktown Elementary School Welcome to Fredericktown Elementary School! We will also monitor students’ progress and share it with parents throughout the year. Mr. Joe Clauser, Principal

Our teachers and staff are looking forward to providing your student many exciting and engaging opportunities this year. We continue to implement Response to Intervention (RtI) to provide opportunities for students to get assistance on various skills in math and reading. Our school has once again been recognized as a SILVER level Positive Behavior Support (PBS) school. We have adopted behavior exp

ectations for various areas that encourage our students to learn, practice, and be recognized for being respectful, responsible learners. We invite you to visit with your child’s teacher to learn more about PBS and our behavior expectations. We understand how important it is for your child to experience a positive and rewarding start to the educational process. Each child will receive guidance in behavior, character building opportunities, and learning experiences that will meet the needs of all students. We look forward to meeting every parent/guardian, and we will provide numerous activities and opportunities that will allow for your participation.

🐾 Week TWO at FES is in the books! 🐾

Our students are settling into their routines, getting comfortable in their classrooms, and learning is officially underway! 📚✏️

It has been so much fun watching our Blackcats jump right into the school year with big smiles, busy classrooms, and lots of learning!

What better way to finish off a great week than with our Annual Blackcat Block Party! 🥳 Students enjoyed sno cones, showed us all their dance moves, and made some pretty great memories with their friends! It was hot, but that didn’t stop us from having an absolute blast!

And, of course, we couldn’t end the week without one of our favorite traditions! Each year, second grade teachers put the extra sno cone ice to good use by giving their students a refreshing splash of shaved ice! What a fun way to cool off!

We can’t wait to see what Week Three brings!

School is better when you’re here! 🐾

Congratulations to our Creative Cats of the Week!

🖤💛 Shoutout to Our Amazing Custodial Team! 💛🖤

Isaac Johnson, Chris Hoover, and John Kennedy

While most of us were enjoying summer break, our custodians were hard at work behind the scenes—cleaning, repairing, organizing, and finding ways to improve our campus.

They put in countless hours making sure our classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, and common spaces were bright, shiny, clean, and ready to welcome our students and staff back for another school year.

A great school doesn’t just happen when the doors open. It takes a team of people working behind the scenes to make it happen, and we are incredibly grateful for the pride and care our custodians take in Fredericktown Elementary.

Thank you for everything you do to make FES a place we can all be proud of! 🧹✨

We appreciate you more than you know! 🖤💛

"This month, we're focusing on ✨RESPECT✨ - seeing value in all people and things & treating them with care. It's one of the foundation stones of a strong school and home community. Respect means recognizing the worth and dignity in every person, treating others' belongings and feelings with care, and understanding that how we treat people matters.

When students practice respect, they build stronger relationships, create safer spaces, and develop the empathy and kindness our world needs. Here are some ways you can nurture respect at home:

▪️Model respect daily — Show your child how you treat others with kindness and consideration, even in difficult moments. Kids learn respect by watching us live it.
▪️Teach them to listen actively — When your child speaks, put away distractions and truly listen. Then encourage them to do the same for others. Active listening is a powerful form of respect.
▪️Help them care for belongings — Talk about why we take care of our things and others' things. Practice putting items away carefully and handling them with intention.
▪️Discuss different perspectives — Ask your child, ""How might someone else feel about this?"" Help them see that respecting others means valuing viewpoints different from their own.

Let's build a culture where every person and thing is valued. "

💛🍋 Small Business, BIG Heart! 🍋💛

We want to give a huge shoutout to Michael, who decided to put in some hard work to help other students and families in our school community.

Michael ran a lemonade stand and took on other jobs to raise money so he could make a donation to our Lunch Pals program—a program that helps families with unpaid breakfast and lunch charges.

After all of his hard work, Michael proudly presented an envelope containing $294 to our SRO, Officer Bellew, to be donated to Lunch Pals! 👏👏

And here’s what makes this even more special: Michael isn’t a student at our school, but he’s still a valued member of the Blackcat community! 🖤💛 He saw an opportunity to help others, worked hard to make it happen, and chose to give back.

Michael, your generosity, initiative, and big heart are an inspiration. You reminded us that being a Blackcat isn’t just about where you go to school—it’s about how you show up for others. 🐾

Thank you, Michael, for making a difference! We are so proud to have you as part of our Blackcat family! 🖤💛

🐾✨ What a GREAT week at FES! ✨🐾

Mr. Clauser & Mrs. McFadden had so much fun visiting with our amazing students in every classroom this week! 💛🖤 They loved seeing their smiles, hearing their ideas, and reminding them just how important they are to our FES family.

They talked about the importance of being at school, being on time, and making the most of every day. Every day at school is another opportunity to learn something new, grow a little stronger, make a new friend, and discover something you didn’t know you could do! 📚🌟

We also talked about how positive choices and positive behavior matter. Being kind, showing respect, helping others, following expectations, and doing your best can make a BIG difference—not only in your own day, but in the day of everyone around you. ❤️

And, of course, Mr. Clauser made sure everyone knows that we have LOTS of exciting attendance challenges, positive behavior celebrations, activities, and rewards planned throughout the school year! 🎉🐾

We hope our students know how much we love having them at school. FES just isn’t the same when someone is missing! Every student brings something special to our school family, and we want to see those smiling faces here every day they can be!

Here’s to another AMAZING year at FES—a year filled with learning, laughter, kindness, positive choices, and LOTS of reasons to be proud! 🖤💛🐾

Let’s make every day count, Blackcats! 🐾✨
