Some good news for any Veteran struggling with PTSD, or other mental health disorders.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs today announced a new clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of methylenedioxymethamphetamine-assisted therapy, or MDMA-assisted therapy, for the treatment of severe mental health disorders, including posttraumatic stress disorder and alcohol use disorder.

“We need an all-of-the-above strategy when it comes to improving mental health treatments, and under President Trump, that’s exactly what VA is working to deliver,” said VA Secretary Doug Collins. “This trial represents an important step in safely evaluating new approaches and innovations to treat Veterans with severe mental health conditions.”

Thank you to all that came to the Memorial Day Ceremony and for Bill Smallwood for playing TAPS at 3pm. Thank you for all of the volunteers that helped support this great event to honor our fallen. The weather was perfect and this looked like one of the largest crowds on Memorial Day.

It’s getting close to Memorial Day and fingers crossed 🤞 Monday looks dry at the moment. Thanks to Tami King for helping with placing the 72 Flags and 72 Poppies in remembrance of the 72 Gillespie County Veterans killed in combat since WWI.

Thanks to all the volunteers that helped place almost 1500 flags on the graves of veterans! Hope to see you all on Monday Morning at the War Memorial in front of the courthouse at 0830. We will have breakfast tacos afterwards!

VFW Auxiliary & VFW Post 7105 members cleaned up the War Memorial Monument today. Lots of weeding, pruning and pulling out freeze dead plants and planting new plants. Getting ready for our annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday May 25th at 8:30 am. Everyone is welcome to attend the ceremony. Then our local Nimitz Rotary will have breakfast tacos and coffee in the gazebo behind the courthouse for everyone.

Congratulations to VFW Fredericksburg Post 7105 on a great turnout on Saturday!

VFW Post 7105 Celebrating our 80th Anniversary on Saturday April 25th. Great ceremony and spectacular BBQ. Thank you to the community for helping us raise $83,109 towards our Capital Campaign for a new Post building. We also received a pledge for another $75,000 next year. We appreciate everyone’s support!We still need $1.7 million more to build our new building. Our new post will be for VFW members and all Veterans and the community. Remember our Post is open to the public. We are a full service bar, and will be serving bar food in the near future. We will also have Cranky’s BBQ Truck outside the VFW in the near future also!!
