Leadership Experience matters.

I have held leadership roles throughout my professional experience in law enforcement and the legal field. I have been a supervisor as a probation officer, a public defender, and a prosecutor. I have been voted into positions of leadership within the Virginia Association of Commonwealth's Attorneys and the Virginia Commonwealth's Attorneys Services Council. I have served on the Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center Board of Directors, Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees, the Rappahannock Area Alcohol Safety Action Program Policy Board, the Rappahannock Regional Jail Board, the Rappahannock Area Community Criminal Justice Board, Spotsylvania DSS Advisory Board, Spotsylvania Transportation Advisory Board, and the Bull Run VASAP Policy Board. I have served all with the characteristics described by Douglas MacArthur.

I led an office twice the size of the Fredericksburg Commonwealth's Attorney office. I provided legal guidance and worked with a law enforcement agency triple the size of the FCPD. I protected a jurisdiction with a population 5x that of Fredericksburg and a land area 40x that of Fredericksburg.

Employees who have worked for me have become a Juvenile and Domestic Relations Judge, a General District Court Judge, a Circuit Court Judge, and an elected Commonwealth's Attorney.

I am ready to lead the Fredericksburg Commonwealth's Attorney's Office to restore justice and accountability to the city. Please vote Travis Bird for Commonwealth's Attorney.

Happy Halloween! Do you know what is scary? As of 2023, Fredericksburg had over 7x Spotsylvania's property crime rate and over 2x its violent crime rate. During my tenure in Spotsylvania, I reduced the crime rate by 54.05% per the FBI Uniform Crime Reports. My opponent has had crime rise by 18.12%! Vote for the candidate who protects the community, has developed multiple alternate disposition programs, and is endorsed by over 45 current or retired Sheriffs, Chiefs of Police, and supervisory law enforcement officers with over 1600 years of experience. My opponent does not protect the community and is endorsed by ZERO members of law enforcement. Listen to those who work in the field and know how to protect the community. Just over a week left, and I am proud of the campaign that I have run. I have not screamed at other political candidates because of who they are friends with; I have not insulted long-time city residents with comments about their age because of who they support; and I have continued participating in my community, just as I have over the last decade, not just during election season.

I have been fortunate to knock on thousands of doors and meet many of you, great residents of the city (human, canine, and feline). It's a task most dislike, but I enjoy. For every door slam, you get a hundred pleasant meetings. I have been shown kindness by many of you, such as gifts of water and even popsicles on hot days, or an invitation to sit on your porch, or even an invite into your house to escape the heat. I hear about your concerns, likes, dislikes, and wants for the city. Fredericksburg is a wonderful city, and the residents need to have confidence in their elected officials. I want to be able to bring that confidence back in the position and be YOUR Commonwealth's Attorney, not The Commonwealth's Attorney.
