MHAfred will be attending an informational session on September 15th to learn more about the upcoming changes to Virginia Medicaid. At this informational and planning session, we will be working together with community partners to develop a plan on how to help Medicaid and SNAP participants meet their work requirements and maintain eligibility.

Today, we remember and honor the lives lost and the individuals who became heroes on September 11, 2001. This day can bring up a range of emotions and memories for many of us. As we memorialize 9/11, we must take care of our mental health. If today feels heavy - that's ok. Reach out for support, call a loved one, and remember that you are not alone.

Registrations are rolling in for the 2026 Youth Mental Health Conference for students and parents in Caroline, Fredericksburg, King George, Spotsylvania and Stafford!

Don't miss out on this free event for high school students and their parents/guardians to learn about mental health resiliency in youth. We have an excellent line-up of presenters this year, including student presentations on making mistakes, AI safety, athletes & mental health, and a Q&A with a local Behavioral Health Unit!

PARENTS/GUARDIANS - Register with your student and join us for us for a parent presentation on the Signs of Su***de and engage in a realistic conversation about how to approach this sensitive topic. Join us THIS Saturday at Adventure Brewing Company for an afternoon of hope, healing, and community as we come together to raise awareness, share resources, and honor those we’ve lost to su***de. This event is about connection, support, and reminding one another that no one walks alone.

🌮 Taco's La Tia will be on‑site serving their full menu plus rotating specials from their food truck — comfort food for a meaningful day.

🎶 The Cold North performs live from 4–7pm, bringing heartfelt harmonies to close out the evening with warmth and reflection.

This event is a fundraiser for Mental Health America of Fredericksburg's advocacy and education programs, su***de prevention programs, and the Youth Support Network. There will be a 50/50 raffle, $1=1 ticket.

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 17 million U.S. adults experienced both mental health challenges and a substance use disorder in 2020. September is National Recovery Month, a time to celebrate and recognize individuals and families in recovery. Every conversation, every connection can make a difference.
