Fellow Conservatives,

On July 13th, we witnessed another significant moment in our nation's history—a moment approaching due to the deep political divide in this country. We must strive to repair the culture that has emerged through our collective courage, faith, and a renewed commitment to love our neighbors. We must uphold and defend our beliefs with dignity and fortitude.

The Spotsylvania County Republican Committee joins Governor Youngkin and all patriotic Americans in condemning the assassination attempt against President Donald Trump. This was not merely an attack on a man or a political candidate but on our country, our Constitution, and the rule of law.

While we are grateful to God that President Trump is recovering well, we must not forget the tragic loss of Fire Chief Corey Comperatore, who lost his life in this abominable attack. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Comperatore family and pray for a swift recovery for those who were wounded.

Words matter. We cherish the First Amendment, but it comes with the responsibility to use our words carefully. Incendiary language that implies violence as an acceptable means to settle political differences is dangerous and must condemned.

Congratulations to Hung Cao who won the primary for Senate against Tim Kaine. Congratulation to Derrick Anderson who won his primary and will face off against Eugene Vindman. We are grateful for all the brave patriots who didn't win but stepped up to try. This is what we do. Now on to November!

Did I do enough? One of the perks of being involved in politics is that you get to know the people who are running for elected offices. To run, they need to gather signatures, invest their own money, put their families through months of stress, make signs, gather a team, endure the same questions over and over, plan events, smile when they don't feel like it, hire people, make calls, create mailers, make ads, ask for money and on and on and on. I do not want to represent myself so I am "interviewing" others to do it for me. That is a big deal. Tomorrow when you go to vote, consider how much effort these people have invested in earning your vote. As these folks ask the question "Did I do enough?" your vote speaks that you heard them, researched them and agree that it indeed was.
