🌈 LGBTQ+ individuals are more likely to experience food insecurity than their non-LGBTQ+ peers. It's not about who they are, but the barriers they encounter.

Many people in the LGBTQ+ community face challenges like housing instability, discrimination, poverty, and limited access to transportation. When these challenges intersect, accessing food becomes even harder.

At the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, we work with neighbors and organizations to make sure that food assistance is accessible and welcoming to everyone who needs it. ❤️🏳️‍🌈

The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank is excited to be participating in the Art of Aging Expo at the Fredericksburg Expo Center today from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM!

Hosted by Partners In Aging , this free community event brings together organizations, agencies, and resources dedicated to helping older adults and caregivers thrive. Whether you're looking for support services, opportunities to stay active and engaged, or simply want to learn more about what's available in our community, there's something for everyone.

Be sure to stop by our table to learn about food assistance programs available throughout the region, including services for older adults, and meet members of our team.

🌈 Hunger Has No Single Face

When many people picture hunger, they often imagine a certain type of person or family. The reality is that hunger affects people from every background, every neighborhood, and every walk of life.

This Pride Month, we're recognizing that LGBTQ+ individuals and families are part of our community—and like many communities across the country, they face unique challenges that can increase their risk of food insecurity.

National research shows that LGBTQ+ adults experience food insecurity at higher rates than the general population. Factors such as higher rates of poverty, housing instability, discrimination, and limited support systems can make it harder to consistently access nutritious food.

At the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, we believe that everyone deserves access to healthy food and the opportunity to thrive. Hunger doesn't have a single face, and neither does the solution.

As we celebrate Pride Month, we're also reaffirming our commitment to ensuring that every neighbor who seeks assistance is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Every meal distributed through our Summer Nutrition Program represents the work of people who care deeply about their community.

From preparing meal boxes to assisting at pickup sites, volunteers help ensure children throughout the Central Rappahannock River Region have access to nutritious food during the summer months.

This summer, hundreds of volunteer hours will help provide meals, create welcoming experiences, and support families throughout our region.
