Golden Hub Community Center Provides Gillespie County, Texas retirement-aged residents with activities, congregate dining and Meals on Wheels. We are always happy to accept donations!

We provide meals to approximately 100 home-bound seniors each day!

🍂🧡 August at The Golden Hub was another wonderful month of good food, great company, and growing friendships! 🧡🍂

During the month of August 2026, we were blessed to serve 1,808 congregate meals right here at The Golden Hub! Even more exciting, 22 new people joined us for lunch. We love welcoming new faces and watching new friendships begin around our tables. ❤️

Between our congregate lunch program and Meals on Wheels, our hardworking kitchen prepared an incredible 4,592 meals during August! 🍽️👏 That is a lot of meals made with care for the older adults in our community.

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing kitchen staff, Golden Hub staff, volunteers, community partners, and everyone who comes through our doors. Each of you helps make The Golden Hub more than a community center—you make it a place of fellowship, friendship, laughter, and belonging. 🧡

The Golden Hub is excited to partner with Texas A&M University to offer Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less—a FREE 15-week weight-management program for older adults! 💚

This is not just another diet—it’s an opportunity to build healthier habits, become more active, improve your well-being, and connect with others in a supportive environment.

📅 Begins Monday, October 12
⏰ 1:00–2:00 PM
📍 The Golden Hub
🗓️ One-hour class each week
💻 Live Zoom class with an instructor

Nos da mucho gusto colaborar con Texas A&M AgriLife Extension para ofrecer ¡Sí, Yo Puedo Controlar Mi Diabetes!, un programa de 4 semanas diseñado especialmente para adultos de habla hispana que desean aprender a controlar mejor su diabetes.

Durante estas clases aprenderá maneras prácticas de cuidar su salud, desarrollar hábitos más saludables y recibir apoyo en un ambiente agradable y acogedor. ❤️

📅 Las clases serán una vez por semana, todos los miércoles:

💜 NEW CLASS COMING TO THE GOLDEN HUB! 💜

We’re excited to partner with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension to offer ¡Sí, Yo Puedo Controlar Mi Diabetes! — a 4-week diabetes self-management program designed especially for Spanish-speaking adults.

This class is a wonderful opportunity to learn practical ways to better manage diabetes, build healthier habits, and receive support in a welcoming group setting. ❤️

📅 Classes meet once a week on Wednesdays:
October 14, 21 & 28 and November 4
⏰ 1:00–3:00 PM
🍽️ Join the class and enjoy lunch for FREE!

Another wonderful month of serving our homebound seniors throughout Gillespie County! Our Meals on Wheels program continues to make a difference—not only by delivering nutritious meals, but also by bringing a friendly smile, a caring heart, and a connection to our community. ❤️

🏡 August 2026 Highlights:
🍽️ 2,784 meals served to homebound seniors in Gillespie County
❤️ 138 Meals on Wheels recipients served
🙌 603 volunteer hours generously given!

Looking for a way to stay active, learn something new, enjoy a favorite hobby, or simply spend time with friends? Take a look at our September 2026 Weekly Activities Schedule — there’s something for everyone! 💚

From Pilates, Step & Stretch, Line Dancing, Tai Chi, Chair Yoga, Drumming Fitness and Tap Dance to Canasta, Mahjongg, Bridge, Chess, crafting, knitting, painting, Bingo, music and more — our weeks are full of opportunities to stay active and connected! 🎨🧶🎶💃

We also have several special monthly groups, meetings, health programs and classes throughout September, so be sure to save this schedule and check the dates and times carefully. 📅
