Heading out of town this weekend? A few simple reminders before you hit the road:

• Buckle up every time, and make sure children are properly secured.
• Don’t drive impaired. If you’re drinking, plan for a sober ride home.
• Put the phone away and keep your attention on the road.
• Give yourself some extra time. Holiday traffic can make for a longer trip.
• Keep an eye out for motorcycles, cyclists, and pedestrians.
• If you’re getting tired, take a break. It’s better to arrive a little late than not at all.
• Before leaving home, lock your doors and make sure valuables aren’t left in your vehicle.

Whether you're traveling across the state or just across town, take your time and look out for one another.

Please be advised that the business offices at the Fredericksburg Police Department will be closed on September 7th in observance of Labor Day. However, regular patrol will continue as usual. If you require assistance from an officer, kindly contact Dispatch at 830-990-8793. In case of an emergency, please dial 911. A special birthday ride for a special birthday girl!

This afternoon, we had the chance to help make Adlee’s birthday a little more memorable with a ride in a Fredericksburg Police Department patrol vehicle!

The experience was made possible through a ride certificate donated by the department to a local silent auction. We were so excited when it was time for Adlee to redeem her prize and be part of her birthday celebration.

There may have been a few flashing lights, plenty of smiles, and a birthday memory we hope she’ll never forget!

Happy Birthday, Adlee! Thank you for letting us be a small part of your special day.

Another great Citizens Police Academy session is in the books!

Our participants got an inside look at Downtown Bike Patrol and learned more about the work of our Special Services Division. These hands-on opportunities give our CPA participants a better understanding of the many roles and responsibilities of the Fredericksburg Police Department.

The Fredericksburg Police Department has issued a new Itinerant Vendor Permit to Kerlin Kaldo ( #190) with Southwestern Advantage. She will be in the community soliciting educational materials.

Individuals conducting door-to-door solicitation are required to have the appropriate permit and should be able to present an identification badge upon request.

If someone is soliciting at your home, please ask to see their ID badge and permit.
