Fredericksburg rumbled once again! 🎸

In August, HFFI celebrated rock ’n’ roll legend Link Wray with a packed tribute party at Colonial Tavern, live music from Aaron and the Beaux Ties, classic cars, and our Rock, Roll, Rumble & Rebellion trolley tours.

We were honored to welcome members of Link Wray’s family and Shawnee representatives for this special celebration of the musician who made rock history right here in Fredericksburg.

What does “tout ensemble” mean?

Literally, it means “all together.” But in New Orleans, the idea means so much more.

In 1941, the Louisiana Supreme Court used the phrase tout ensemble to affirm that the French Quarter’s significance comes from the whole, not just from individual buildings. The architecture, streets, and character of the neighborhood work together to create something greater than the sum of its parts.

Today, that same idea takes on an even bigger meaning. As the only city selected for World Monuments Fund’s 2026 Irreplaceable America initiative, New Orleans is being recognized as an entire living, cultural landscape. Our neighborhoods, buildings, traditions, craftsmanship, and people are all part of what makes this city irreplaceable.

Tout ensemble. All together. Irreplaceable.

Ten years ago, Fredericksburg opened its doors for another memorable HFFI Candlelight Tour. 🕯️

These photographs from the 2016 tour capture a tradition that has brought people together for generations to experience the history, architecture, and hospitality of Fredericksburg’s historic neighborhoods.

A decade later, the tradition continues.

The 56th Annual Candlelight Tour returns December 12–13, 2026, with a new collection of homes and the fascinating story of Fredericksburg builder and designer Elmer Grimsley “Peck” Heflin.
