**The Mayfield Meadows & Canterbury Trails Initiative Continues Forward**
Our latest community-focused outdoor enhancement within Habitat’s Canterbury subdivision is getting set to roll out. Plans for starting the project are set for June 2026. This project features a 1,500-foot permeable mulch trail, new community garden beds, and welcoming shared spaces designed to strengthen neighborhood connections. Our goal is to promote environmental stewardship while preserving natural land for current residents and future generations.
The Canterbury Trail will connect the first Habitat build to upcoming projects, symbolizing continuity and fostering a vibrant community identity. The initiative also includes native plantings, educational signage, and stormwater-friendly pathways that support watershed health and environmental learning.
In partnership with Downtown Greens and Friends of the Rappahannock, we’re blending nature and education to empower our community. Ten new garden beds will offer space for growing vegetables and pollinator-friendly plants, with durable fencing and native species that emphasize sustainability and resident involvement.
This is a lasting investment in our neighborhood’s health, beauty, and self-sufficiency. 🌿🚶‍♂️🌸
