Intense heat is forecasted with temperatures above 85F Sunday through Wednesday. Keep your trees healthy by watering wisely this week! Here's how:

🌄🌇Timing is everything! Water in the morning or evening hours. This is crucial for saving water as we have been in a moderate drought. Avoid watering during the hottest parts of the day - you'll lose a lot of water to evaporation.

💧Give your newly planted or young trees long soaks. Putting a hose on a slow drip will help their roots develop drought tolerance.

🌳🪣If you think you might accidentally leave your hose running, here are some other methods for you: use a slow watering tree bag or DIY a bucket for watering. You can drill holes into a bucket to create your own slow watering system.

Every tree will differ in the amount of water it needs, but all trees are affected by this heat. By watering efficiently you can conserve water and help your trees survive.

Veterans are some of the hardest working, most dedicated members of our community 💪🇺🇸

We had the honor of leading and hosting a stream cleanup yesterday with VFW John R Webb Post 3285 collecting 1,500+ lbs of trash from Rock Creek in Frederick.

These volunteers weren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and their feet in the water. Commander Darryl Warren led an effort to get a waterlogged and heavy carpet out of the stream. Volunteers of years’ past tried their hardest to get it out but this time the carpet lost the battle!

Shoutout to Angie Martzolff for rounding the troops together for this one!
