LAST CALL FOR HEALTH DEPARTMENT GRANT!

We have three (3) grants available to organizations to provide to***co and va**ng education programs to the communities you already serve in Frederick County. Funded programs must focus on to***co and va**ng prevention activities, such as educating youth in the community about the dangers of to***co use, va**ng, and electronic smoking devices (ESDs). Activities may be in-person, virtual, or a combination of both. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis.

Wild animals like bats, raccoons, skunks, foxes, and stray or unknown dogs and cats can carry rabies, even if they look harmless. Teach kids not to touch or go near them.

That’s why Frederick County’s Black Maternal Health Initiative is working with The Black Health Equity Coalition and The Bloom Collective to train local breastfeeding specialists who represent and support our families. This 5-month hybrid training gives community members professional skills to support breastfeeding, latching, and milk supply—building a stronger, more inclusive care network.

Many of you know we’ve been working hard to address health inequities in Black maternal health and we're thrilled to share that we’ve reached a major milestone in our plan! ❤️🖤💚

Black Health Equity Coalition in partnership with Frederick County Health Department , is officially launching the Breastfeeding Specialist Training program. This initiative is part of our commitment to expanding the Black birth workforce and uplifting Black birthing people and families in Frederick County. Training will be provided by The Bloom Collective who is a trusted hub for holistic perinatal care and birth worker development, rooted in reproductive justice and community healing. We are honored to have them come to Frederick!

The Bloom Collective offers a nurturing and empowering space for families navigating pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Their team of Black women practitioners brings deep expertise in birth justice, lactation support and more!
