Honor our veterans this Veterans Day by helping to transcribe military pension records from the Revolutionary War! The US National Archives and the National Park Service are collaborating on a special project to transcribe Revolutionary War pension applications and bounty land warrants, created in honor of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States. These records may contain valuable details about Revolutionary War veterans and their families, such as rank, unit, period of service, age, residence, date and place of marriage, and the date and place of death of spouse.
Register and get prepared to start transcribing! Learn more here: https://bit.ly/47uZ1y5
P.S. Are you a volunteer for the National Park Service? Then add “NPS” to the start of your username so your contributions can be appropriately tracked!

At the beginning of March, our Leadership Team made the difficult decision to cease operations as Frederick Town Fife and Drum Corps.
We had an amazing run and we thank our musicians, teachers, and the community who supported our group throughout many successful years.
We were able to maintain our practices via Zoom throughout the first two years of COVID, but ultimately it proved to be too much of a strain on our Corps.
We wish all of our musicians and their families the best of luck in the future!
For those in the Fife and Drum Community who might be interested, our uniforms, drums, and other equipment will be up for auction on May 14 at the Frederick Fairgrounds, and also viewable now at auctionzip.com using ID # 2894 and parzowauctions.com.
This page will continue to be monitored should you have any questions we can answer.
Thank you

Frederick Town Fife and Drum 1745-1817 (FTFD) is a non-profit, volunteer run organization sponsored by the Sgt. Lawrence Everhart chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) in partnership with Frederick County Public Schools, area law enforcement, and other business and civic organizations.
FTFD’s President and Founder Don Deering, who also serves as Maryland’s President of the SAR, calls Frederick the "hub of our history" and is bringing Revolutionary War-era flair to the region to draw visitors from far and wide.
The FTFD performs at public or private events such as parades, historical celebrations and commemorations, concerts and street festivals and could help Frederick one day become the “Colonial Williamsburg of Maryland.” The FTFD is not a competition corps, but has won several awards for our outstanding performances in local events.
The FTFD is the area's first ancient fife and drum corps, where young musicians portray those trained in the Colonial army of the Revolutionary War. In the 18th century, military musicians tended to be boys ages 10 to 18 whose tunes led troops on long marches and signaled daily activities like wake-up calls and meal times. The FTFD currently welcomes both girls and boys to its ranks and is open to everyone with an interest in ancient music and local history.
There is no audition required for potential members, but there is a short interview process. The corps currently rehearses at least once a week and performs about twice a month. There is no membership fee or other costs associated with joining the FTFD. Qualified musicians receive free instruction, uniforms, and instruments to use while members of the corps.
The FTFD also focuses on building character as well as musical skills--those who show progress and responsibility are rewarded by promotion through the ranks.
